The problem is the D men are still in regular season mode, even in G4.
They all are when it comes to shots and doing the dirty work.
The playoffs are about rubber on the net, not that extra pass.

Absolutely embarrassing effort from this team. They're shook. Rattled by a team that is younger than them and not nearly the amount of experience. Sad. The power play looks awful too.

This team is just allergic to shooting the puck on net. This falls on Carbs for the virtually toothless offensive system he's implemented.

To need 7 games would be embarrassing.
The difference in experience is obscene and they have their back up goalie and man for man the Caps have more depth.

They’re fine 5v5. Just almost impossible to win when your PK is 50% and your PP is 1/10. Simple as that

Honestly don’t really want to see any more complaints about officiating in this thread. We’ve been given our opportunities and have completely blown them. It’s on our players to actually show up and play their game and they absolutely haven’t.
Montreal is playing annoying hockey and the Caps are falling for it. Newhook and Anderson are doing their job to get under their skin. Some of these habits by the Caps have lingered for years. Always trying to make a fancy pass, not clearing pucks, and taking dumb penalties. Only a one goal game, but 16 shots through two periods against an 8th seed? That's pretty bad.

I don't get why Carbery changed the PP up from only 1 D.
I feel PP issues are often systematic -- so they're on Carbery to fix.
Also, Leonard played less than 2 minutes that period. With so much PP time, they need to use him.
(Carlson and Ovi are slow and immobile. No amount of coaching or effort can change that.)
5 power plays and a :44 second 5-on-3. I don't want to hear any complaints abotu the reffing.
