It would be 7th and I’m sure there’s a decent drop off each pick after the first 5.

There's really not much of a drop off. The only big difference is that someone like Martone or Frondell could slide to #7, but they almost definitely won't slide to #9.

The guy they'll pick at #9 will probably be someone like Eklund with Smith as the backup. At #7, it would probably be someone like O'Brien with Eklund as the backup.

The pick is if it's in top 13 the Pens automatically get next year's first isn't it? The Rangers have no choice if it's 13 or higher. If it's lower than 13th then they have the choice, no?

It's more or less the higher pick can also be swapped to a team that really wants it to convert it into more picks if they also got the Rangers pick. Like taking that 9th to pick lower in the first and get a third as well.

Do you have a preference? I really only watch B1G hockey (primarily MSU and Wisconsin).

I don't think the Penguins are capable of not giving up another goal tonight.

Honestly even if they win in OT, that's fine because it has them at #8. #7 is preferred but they can win in OT and still be behind Anaheim in the standings.

I love both O'Brien and Eklund, which is why I'm pretty whatever on whether they're picking #7, #8 or #9.

O'Brien is a 6'2" righty center with some great offensive tools, Eklund is an Euro skilled guy that plays with a ton of grit. Both would be really nice picks and should be going in the #5-#10 range.
