Pre-Game Talk: Game 82: Canadiens v. Canes, 4/16/25 @ 7PM

Anthony Martineau in his segment with Marinaro on the radio said that the Habs need to be ready to "manger d'la bande" tonight. He said that maybe the Canes' NHL player won't go all in, but their young players and the call ups will. And even if they are coming from a lower level, they can be dangerous if Habs don't go all in.
One little accent on the last E in the sentence could make that post sound so different.

They're going to play loose with no pressure, it's the opposite of the Habs.

Worst thing to happen is if Canes score first.

Kills the crowd, makes Habs players even more nervous.
I hate that the whole story everwhere is suddenly it’s the Canes B Team. That’s the f***ing headline. Not that they need to do the fight of there life. It’s now all about; “understimate your enemy!”. f***

That is my biggest concern. We need to get the lead and then keep our foot on the gas. No sitting back, playing defensively.

Won’t be lack of motivation from this group imo. The team is gassed. There’s nothing left in the tank imo.
I don't buy that. These are a bunch of guys ranging from 19-35 years old, in the collective prime of life and not one of them plays over 25-30 minutes a game, and have every possible amenity at their disposal for recovery. They are no more gassed than a team that is now sitting with 100 points.

Our travel schedule is relatively light compared to that of many other playoff teams, and we have the comfort of playing the majority of our games in the same time zone. There is no excuse for not playing hard tonight; I just don't buy it.

Not defensively, but definitely smarter then the other night.

The Hawks wanted to run and gun and despite going up 2-0, the Habs obliged them in that game. I think the whole hoopla with Demidov made it a festive-like atmosphere and it seemed to have bled into the players.

Hoping they have a much more business-like approach.

I don’t trust the Canes organization for 1 single second. “Yeah, it’s our B team…”. I wouldnt put it pass them to just come out later: “Yeah, it was not an optional practice. Just that we let Aho and Jarvis to get a bit of a rest…Oops” f*** THEM!!!’:madfire:

You are a good poster but Savard didn't deserve that level of disrespect. 800+ games, Cup winner. I still remember that shift against Buffalo with one skate blade blocking Tage Thompson shots. That guy deserves respect.
No no you're wrong, a 34 year old man who's played 869 NHL games has a chubby face and isn't currently in the same shape as Connor Bedard so a HFBoards member is justified in calling him a useless fat turd several times a day.

Same goes for calling an NHL hall of famer with 1,033 points in 1,134 games an idiotic shrimp.

I doubt motivation is an issue here, this looks like a young team learning how to close the deal, either way this will have been a very valuable experience. I’ll be extremely upset if they do lose tonight though dont get me wrong
I don't buy it. Suzuki, Caufield, Evans, Anderson, Armia, Gallagher all went to the cup finals in 2021, so experience is not an excuse. I know this season was a step forward but if they don't come out blazing tonight and find a way to lose this, the impact will be felt next season.
