The Habs have a goal differential of -22, which is 9th worst leaguewide and on par with Buffalo and Detroit.

It did get better, but I don't see a real pattern of allowing less goal since december as it varies a lot month over month, but I do see a pattern of scoring more, which is why their goal differential slightly improved over time.

If they miss the playoffs, a part of the blame should fall on him, just as much as the players. It doesn't mean he needs to get fired or even be on the hotseat to start next season, but what they needed to do to clinch the playoffs was so small that, no matter the earlier expectations, not making them will be considered a failure.

You mentionned earlier how good he was at developping young talent. Playoffs experience is priceless and it's why, at this point in time, the expectations should be to make them.

They went 6-2-2 in their last 10 games, this is hardly blowing it.

Minnesota, which is a team far more advanced than we are, just had to clinch by pulling their goalie late against Anaheim. The Blues had to win last night against Utah after losing 3 straight after a massive win streak.

It's the reality of wild card teams, if we were capable of going 8-2-0 in our last 10, we'd be one of the top teams in the league. No one would have any real complaints if the Jackets didn't happen to go on a hot streak off the back of Jett f***ing Greaves late in the game.

Playoff experience would be great and I hope we get it, but no one envisioned us getting it this year. The fact we are here is a testament to the work done by players and coaching staff, not an indictment.

Screw it, call up Flojak and make the 4th line him, Arber, and Laine. Maybe then he can absorb some competitiveness through osmosis

I think it's fair to be concerned about the "how" considering we've come out flat the vast majority of our recent games and have 96 shots over our last 5, a total that would be disappointing if it happened over 4 games.

I'm not sure what to make of this puff piece from Engels, I'm not gonna read it. If you think he made valid arguments you can explain them to me, otherwise it's moot.
It’s a precursor to Slaf not having a lot of rope on that 1st line & PP1

Losing to the Hawks at home after taking an early 2-0 lead is completely inexcusable. They can still redeem themselves but if they let this slide that's the game I'll point at as the one where they lost the season.

There's alot of ebbs and flows, but the one I think about now is when Laine decided to talk trash about the jackets, and left after the first period.

The Habs had the lead in the 3rd period and lost it very late in regulation

If we lose tonight, I'm taking a few days off this board. There's no way I'm subjecting my mind or soul into absorbing the repugnant moronic toxicity that's sure to follow.

I'd rather walk away head up high and healthy, knowing this team has given us far more than we could have expected. It's been a great season, tonight, as disappointing as it will be with a loss, won't change that.

Go Habs!

It had been a good season overall but if they end up missing now based on where they were a week ago, it's going to leave a sour taste all summer which i would want to avoid.

I feel like we're just sitting here waiting for our execution. It feels like the writing's already on the wall and we're just going through the motions until the guillotine drops.

and I think that it's easily explained by the fact they are tired because they dug themselves a huge hole to get out of and have had to play at maximum capacity to get back here.

I doubt MSL is telling them to make an extra pass against Arvid Soderblom.

Yes, kudos to the team and coaching staff to even get in this position and a lot of people, probably even me, don't give them enough credit for it.

But they are 0-3 in the games they could've clinched their playoffs spot, and got terribly outplayed in the last 3 wins they had and St-Louis continued to do the same thing and expect a different result.

La vie est un chemin sinueux, life is a winding road and adjustments are required at the time they are required.

Anyhow, we've both said our pieces. No need to beat a dead horse.

Right? I'm not a Marty fanboy by any means but Lane Hutson literally would have been a PP specialist sheltered minutes guy under any other regime.

Demidov probably starts on the 4th line for any past coach we've had recently.
Uhh. I’ve got news for you.. being stuck with Newhook IS the 4th line 😂
He’s being out produced by every forward despite getting second line minutes and PP opportunities.
He is our worst forward and it’s not even close. That line has been dead in the water for.. ever.

There's very little he could have done outside of dressing Xhekaj over Struble in a game. Ottawa comes to mind.

Heineman has been hurt.
Roy was ineffective and not trustworthy defensively.
Demidov wasn't available until last game.

New York Giants' Lawrence Taylor:
"Son...ya'll gotta do better than this"

Let's go and let's do this!! GHG!!

Probably going to be Freddy in net?

Which is bad news. He's extremely good against us historically.

They better make his life difficult and park themselves in the paint all game long.
