A lot of vitriol at Marty and most of it is completely unjustified.

You will never find a perfect coach.. but think about what he's doing with Hutson and Demidov. Do you think any of our previous coaches would deploy them the way he has? They'd have to grind and learn rispek.
Yes, he's good at developing talent, no arguments here.

But what else has he shown? Certainly not adaptability when things don't work out, and you're not winning the cup without it. He deserves the rope to see if he can get there (there's no way and no reason to fire him this offseason), but he also deserves some criticism, mainly because of the stubborness he's shown in the way he does things.

You know what they say about the definition of insanity...

In such a crucial duel, every decision counts, and it is precisely Martin St-Louis's that has caused a stir this morning.
Despite the electrifying debut of young Ivan Demidov, who collected a goal and an assist in his first NHL game on Monday, the Canadiens head coach refuses to shake up his hierarchy.
The 19-year-old Russian will remain on the second power play unit, while the first wave, which has been ineffective for two weeks (1 for 17), will remain intact.

Be a shame if the Habs can't grab the last playoff spot. It would top off a surprising positive season.

Well, the team was bleeding goals against and the worst team in the league heading into December. Since then, they've been one of the hottest teams, outside of a cold stretch heading into the 4 Nations, and got out of last in the league to holding their own destiny to make the playoffs in a year none of us expected us to make it.

The truth is, we went from people bashing him and joking about being in the mix.. to bashing him for not getting the team to easily make the playoffs.

I don't think a lot of it has been fair. He's done a lot to improve the defensive play, forecheck, PP and PK throughout the year.

I have my criticisms of him, for sure, but blaming him for them missing the playoffs here would be incredibly short sighted considering his coaching and adaptation of a very young roster with many missing pieces got us to a spot none of us expected.

Please MSL, don't wait until we're down 2 goals before changing your lines and PP1, use Demidov energy to pump yout best players.

We need to see a Suzy-Caufield-Demidov line and replace Laine or Slaf by Demidov on PP1 right from the start.........Pleeeeeeease.

I want, i need, we must have playoffs hockey

Go Fu....kens :habs Go

Lack of talent is a big factor too
D is weak and no 2C
that has to be reminded

Are you asleep? Would Scotty, Babcock, Laviolette, Berube, etc be playing little Hutson 25TOI in his rookie year?

This board is always a bipolar mess, but this season we stepped our game up and clearly cut back on our meds.

it is what it is
will I be happy no, but the team did better then most expected
all I care tonight is " work ethic"
If they all work hard and show it. that is all I can ask

The Habs have a goal differential of -22, which is 9th worst leaguewide and on par with Buffalo and Detroit.

It did get better, but I don't see a real pattern of allowing less goal since december as it varies a lot month over month, but I do see a pattern of scoring more, which is why their goal differential slightly improved over time.

If they miss the playoffs, a part of the blame should fall on him, just as much as the players. It doesn't mean he needs to get fired or even be on the hotseat to start next season, but what they needed to do to clinch the playoffs was so small that, no matter the earlier expectations, not making them will be considered a failure.

You mentionned earlier how good he was at developping young talent. Playoffs experience is priceless and it's why, at this point in time, the expectations should be to make them.

Are you asleep? I adressed that in the first sentence of the post. What does giving Hutson 25mins a night have to do with adaptability. If anything, it just proves that he can't adapt to the players in his line-up.
