True. And it's a testament to the club that we've been able to climb out of huge holes to get here.

But losing four straight when you need to clinch is not a great way to close out game 81. Hopefully game 82 is a different story.

100%. It will be disappointing if they miss this final opportunity to get it done themselves.

But even if they miss, after the bitterness of the situation subsides, and you take an objective look back, this season is a success.

Exactly and lot of this is on coaching decisions. That's the part that is bugging me, 5 games to collect 3 points and its down to the wire and I'm not just talking about these last 5 games regarding the coaching. It's been suspect all year and it's always the same thing WTF is Matheson getting 25 to 30 minutes of ice and WTF is Savard in the lineup when there are no injuries.

If he's such a good VET he'd understand his role as a number 7!
Savard is in the lineup because he's one of only two right shots we have in the lineup. Matheson's numbers could be cut back but that's not the reason we're losing.

Our best players haven't been great. We need them to be great. We have tons of holes in the lineup and we need our stars to step up. That's the only way we're going to win games. In the coming years depth will be less of a problem and we'll likely make the playoffs a lot easier. But for now, it comes down to our star players playing like star players. If they don't we won't win. It's that simple.

Rebuilds seem to go more or less the same path, it just takes longer in some cases. Experience is an expensive commodity. I dont expect much from the habs in the playoffs, but this is valuable exp that i'd rather have sooner than later. That being said, anyone else thing the Caps are going to go out in the first 2 rounds? I feel their goal this year was to help Ovy with his goal record.
This is why it's so important for them to make the playoffs, even if they get swept. Its a massive step in the teams evolution!

Good luck did you not hear MSLs interview where he was asked about playing Demidov on the 1st line and 1st PP unit ? " I'm the coach, I'll do what I want" 'C'est moi le coach, je fais ce que je veux."

I really want Montreal to make the playoffs but I'm hating MSL more and more via these stupid replies and asinine lineup and player management decisions!!!!

I didn't hear this presser. But are you sure he said "je fais ce que je veux (I do what I want) and not "je sais ce que je veux (I know what I want)?"

When did he say this?

Probably going to be Freddy in net?

Which is bad news. He's extremely good against us historically.

Come on guys stop defending why Savard is in the lineup.

If its such a big deal that Xhekaj isn't a right handed shot then call up Mailloux who is. Still a massive improvement on Savard,

We all know what side Savard plays isn't the reason he's in the lineup!

MSL is making hockey decisions a personal choice not a hockey related choice.
The coach is to blame if Montreal doesn't make the show this year!

Carolina is like Minnesota for us, we always seem to lose against them.

Caufield-Suzuki-Slafkovski is ice cold right now.

Not sure if Demidov can save us tonight... .

It’s pretty much how I expect us to pull it off, if we do. Demidov and Hutson carry us for the final game.

1st line is ice cold since Chiarot lit up Suzuki a week ago. Suz might not be 100% and he’s clearly carrying the offense.

Demidov has to take over

Thats the same as hearing "I like fish" as "I like piss". Meaning that theres no way to hear it incorrectly. MSL has an issue with his ego. No one tells him what to do. If someone tries, and even if he knows it would be the right way, he sticks to what he has decided.

They may be improvements but not by much if they are poor defensively.

If we lose in regulation, this team has been the biggest tease in recent Habs history.
They really made me believe they had what it took to make the playoffs and win a few games: confidence, youth, energy and talent.
Confidence and energy are slowly disappearing and their gas tanks are getting emptied.

But... considering we shouldn't even be in the conversation re: the playoffs, I should be happy to get here this year.
This team is going to be amazing in the near future.

GHG!

MONTREAL vs CAROLINA
Past 25 games

6 - 16 - 3

In those 25 games, we scored 47 and gave up 79.

And just to keep up current trends, in those 25 games, we were outshot by almost 5 shots PER GAME in those 25 games.

To make things worse, in the last 11 games, our record stands at 1 - 9 - 1.

Woof.

They play Ottawa tomorrow night so I'm hoping they save Freddy for them...Kochetkov is inconsistent.
In reality, they should play their weaker lineup against us because in theory Montreal will be playing hard. Ottawa will be going through the motions.

However, Carolina may still hold an Aho grudge and want to eliminate us.

Although all we need is 1 point. It's either win in any fashion or lose in OT/SO
Lol if we end up on the wrong side this evening ... the CBJ vs NYI game might end up the most watched gamed in CBJ history .I dunno if Sportnet plans to broadcast that game or not in the event Habs don't clinch tonight.
