Never said he didn't. I'm talking about this game and this game only. Sounds like your trying to have a conservation that's different than mine.

That's true. Personally I think he's 3rd pair, can be 2nd with the right partner. He's overpaid but that's not on him and I can only judge him on his merits as a player relative to the role he should be in. Like the rest of the defenders, he's had to step up and do more than he ideally should, and I think he's done ok in that regard without being excellent. He turns up every game, his compete is decent, he plays physical. I'd agree on the penalties and the occasional bad play. But that's always been part of his game. On balance I'm satisfied with his performance this year.

I've heard it said that he's "uncoachable" or the like, which would imply him being stubborn or lazy, but I'm not sold on that. He makes mistakes, for sure, but overall his effort seems mostly fine and he at least tries to play responsibly, with a few exceptions. Hopefully next year the D will stay healthier and it'll be easier to get a proper read on him playing where he's supposed to.

IMO Zaddy really stepped up when Mac went down. Cut down on most of the dumb penalties and played solid defense.
