Outside of Pastrnak, the team has been awful. Even Geekie was meh until they strapped him to Pastrnak. It's mind-blowing to me that with how bad this team has been, there seems to only be one guy fans want to complain about.
The fans, the media, and the stat sheet, but yeah interesting counter-narrative.

Your post makes no sense and doesn't disprove anything I've said. The media will fuel whatever will generate clicks and views. If they know Swayman will be a lightning rod, they'll talk about him. Who gives a f*** what the media says? FFS I'm glad this is game 82. This place is becoming a bigger dumpster fire than this entire season.

Hey everyone. I rarely post, I often read. Thanks for another season of laughs, cringes, highs….. nope….. lows, and rock bottoms. We got through Kasper and Lewis and we’ll rise again. Still bleed Black and Gold. Let’s hope we pull a Dallas (the 70s nighttime soap, not their Johnny-come-lately hockey team) and we wake up tomorrow and this was all a bad dream (“Jake, Brad, Linus….so good to see you”).

I'm not as enamored with Zadorov as others. He's a fine 3rd pairing guy, but some around here at like he's amazing cause he throws a hit. They'll ignore the questionable plays and bad penalties because he's big and mean.

That's true. Personally I think he's 3rd pair, can be 2nd with the right partner. He's overpaid but that's not on him and I can only judge him on his merits as a player relative to the role he should be in. Like the rest of the defenders, he's had to step up and do more than he ideally should, and I think he's done ok in that regard without being excellent. He turns up every game, his compete is decent, he plays physical. I'd agree on the penalties and the occasional bad play. But that's always been part of his game. On balance I'm satisfied with his performance this year.

I've heard it said that he's "uncoachable" or the like, which would imply him being stubborn or lazy, but I'm not sold on that. He makes mistakes, for sure, but overall his effort seems mostly fine and he at least tries to play responsibly, with a few exceptions. Hopefully next year the D will stay healthier and it'll be easier to get a proper read on him playing where he's supposed to.

Yeah but Sway is a running narrative, fairly or not. Has Zadorov been soft on guys or puck battles or lacking effort all season? I don't think so. Maybe you think he has, but that hasn't been the general perception.
I was never a Zadorov guy but give credit where due. Its the last game of the season so the sample size is large enough. Most of the team is a minus and Zadorov leads the team with a +23, impressive in even a winning season.

Yeah that big a discrepancy from everyone else goes beyond just luck, even though for sure that's part of it. Have to acknowledge he's tilted the ice in the B's favor pretty well, and certainly more than anyone except healthy H Lindy and McAvoy at times.

He's been fine. Thank god we had him this season, like it or not teams tend to behave when he's on the ice.
