A forgettable season draws to a close.

The last time the Bruins were really in a position like this, they returned with new uniforms; a new GM; a new coach and a new captain. That kicked off the most successful era of Bruins hockey in my lifetime.

I really hope there’s a new era beginning next season and not just more of the same. Time for new faces and new ideas.

Brett Peterson is the assistant GM of the Florida Panthers and GM of the USMNT. He might make a good GM here, or Vaughn Karpan - assistant GM in Las Vegas. That might be where I would start, and I’d let them hire a new coaching staff and run the draft this year.

But there’s still one game left that I will miss because of work.

Just get this over with so we can all move on to better days ahead.

Crazy to think that before the season started I thought we made some decent moves and was looking forward to the season and playoffs.

Now here we are hoping for a top 4 pick.

Ah well, see what we do for next year.

I certainly didn't expect to finish tops in the East or anything, but most of us had them pegged in the 2-3 division slot, then with early season injuries a lot of us shifted to "just get a WC spot and fight it out in the Spring"

Like you said, it's insane that we are now begging to lose lol to secure better odds in the lottery. This team was an immeasurable let down.

This has been an interesting season to say the least.
It all started with Neely calling out Swayze regarding his contract demands.
Some things are left better behind closed doors.
Firing Monty part way through the season.
Promoting an assistant coach that is not ready for the head coaching job.
Signing two over rated Canucks and paying them way too much.
Mishandling of Poitras's development...he should have stayed in the AHL all season.
A fire sale at the deadline and praying we landed some decent players in Minten, Zellers and Middlestadt.
All of the above, must be pointed to Sweeney and Neely.
Both need to go.
Let's hope positive changes in Management are made prior to the draft and we have some capable hockey minds that can draft some prospects with speed and skill that can contribute in the future.
On the bright side.....Pasta had one heck of a season and still does not have a #1 center to help him.
Geekie had a great year as well. I hope we can get him signed to a deal that is fair for both sides.

Counterpoint
Swayman did himself and the team no favors holding out of camp and with his play

Montgomery put together the most disjointed and crowded training camp I can remember- shoved Marchand on the bench and had Pastrnak ride the line for a full third period all within the first 20 games.

Sacco was promoted for stability- maybe they should have brought in someone else but no ones said who was available and a better option. 1/4 way into a season ain't the best time to go coach shopping.

Zadorov was a win and Lindholm's last 1/4 of the season has looked like the player we wanted and paid for.

The sell off at the deadline is what everyone was hoping for as it approached.

Love the Wilburys—thanks for the ear worm :wg:
End of the Line:( Will be there tonight to see it through to the bitter end. Going to be kind of a grim Shirts Off Their Backs ceremony…do they give out shirts for the two first-time call ups?
