GDT: Game #81: Utah HC @ Nashville - 6:00pm MDT - Utah16, Arizona61

To all you nay saying out there, this year has ended up a success, and there is no way you can say otherwise. BA expects the playoffs next year, like most of us do. BA knows what we need, and there will be changes.
It certainly is a success in the context of the last several seasons and the steps toward being a good playoff team that the organization is taking. I am encouraged by the progress.( I do wish it was happening in AZ, but alas. )

However, if the context is comparing to the rest of the league, then the season wasn’t successful. But I think expecting that type of success this season isn’t realistic.

Likewise,,,,, to all you guys out there who are always coming in after the fact because you think it helps keep you on that hill you're dying on....... ;)

The adage.... "playoffs or we're shit" is a crock.

So Jakey I must of missed it.. did we make the playoffs?
What does that have to do with it being a successful season? Most had Utah missing. I don't think you understand how hard it is to rebuild and make the playoffs. Look at the Habs, Detroit, Ottawa, Buffalo, Columbus for example. A couple of those teams are ahead of Utah in their rebuild as far as number of years into their rebuild. This group is pretty closely matched.

I really don't understand your post, but the goal for every team every year is to make the playoffs, plain and simple, but realistically it is not possible. Having said that, next year playoffs is expected, and anything less would be looked at as a failure. BA, and the players have said as much.

You can't compare Utah or any other team who are rebuilding to the rest of the league.

I misread you. (yes it really does happen)

You forget what BA said when he got hired.... he said (paraphrasing) he was looking to be playing meaningful games within "X number of years." So his goal was not to make playoffs every year.

I think he's roughly a year off..... but then you take into consideration the constraints he was operating under up until this year.

This is true.

I bet if you asked any of the players in the dressing room this year was a failure. If Calgary doesn't make it to the playoffs it will be a failure too

I'm starting to think that @Mangosteen gets paid every time he says playoffs.

Ahhh my dear friend, We could of easily made the play offs. Just take 5 of our overtime losses and turn them to wins. If we acted in proper time and traded for the Dmen needed we would of made them. We burned out a Serg, set MavLam back in development to keep a 1st rounder that will have 50 percent chance to make the NHL. Poor asset management. I give him 50/50 on keeping his job. Yes one more year but if he has a shitty off season.

Are you saying it's BA's fault for not winning those 5 overtime games? How did BA set back MavLam's development? BA is not going anywhere. You are delusional man.

Poor deluded child...... :naughty:

MavLam wasn't supposed to be on the roster, but got there because of injuries. To his credit he kept up at the outset but the NHL grind began getting to him and he was sinking fast right up until he gothurt himself.

Sergy handled the workload fine. In fact he would have been forced to play even more minutes if MavLam had stayed healthy because the kid was obviously struggling and it would have made Bear go to him even more.

Exactly it was his fault. Not supporting the team in a timely manor. I giving BA a 12 expiry date at the latest. We shall see if I am wrong.
