We'll find out by game time tomorrow if the game has any meaning for the Islanders. Obviously we could still move down a couple of draft picks. Interesting game for all involved.

Wasn't a very pretty game, but went sent the fans home happy.
Yep! :D

...well, mostly happy. My taillight was damaged while someone was trying to get out of his parking spot. :( Was very apologetic, but still. Grar.

The number of Random Silly Bonus Passes did get a little bizarre, though. If it weren't for the fact that I kept seeing people deliver hits, I might've assumed I was watching an ASG.

Just curious, I saw the picture on Portzline's twitter tonight with the ice removal equipment taking out the melting ice already. My question is what's the hurry? And why don't they just let the ice melt and flush it down the drain instead of using equipment to scoop it our? I looked at the Nationwide Arena website and there doesn't seem to be a show coming up anytime soon so I ask once again, what's the hurry?

They always do it as soon as the last game is played. I don't think it's as simple as turning off the cooling system and letting it melt. There are no drains under the ice and the floor is level so if you let it melt the water has no were to go.

Overall it was nothing pretty to watch but, we got an important W in the final home game and the atomosphere with the fans was awesome. Not a playoff feel obviously but the crowd was definitely into it - I took some good videos, especially at the end.

Caaaaammmmmm!!!

Hopefully, that's the LAST time for the chili chant, FOREVER.

Agreed - its up there with the terrible "We like pizza" song - ugh :shakehead

Awww, this actually makes me kinda sad :(
October can't come soon enough.

Agreed, to be playing like this and have to wait until October to see if we can come out firing - I'm anxious already.

Fun game. Sucks we have to wait till October to see them play meaningful games again. I love Foligno so much.

Looking back on this seasn, crazy to see the rise Foligno had. Great for Columbus, hope he stays a Jacket the rest of his career.

Well, in a sense it was a fun game, and I suppose being the last home game, and against Buffalo, you might as well have some fun on the ice. Realistically this game should have been about 8-2, but it is what it is. Both my wife and I thought Joey didn't look real interested in playing the game, but still, even when he isn't totally engaged he is a very good player.

Not going to lie, I am going to enjoy warm weather, and summer activities, but am really looking forward to next season and (hopefully) a healthy line-up.

Would be awesome if the hockey Gods rewarded the CBJ for not tanking. Would that be poetic justice, or what?

And, btw, what a ridiculously short GDT.

After Joey tripped Marcus Foligno, he skated over to him laughing and joking before heading over to the penalty box. Stuck me a bit disrespectful to the game and the fans. At least PRETEND to take it seriously.

After seeing Ennis fall before the empty net goal, you can't convince me players don't tank. :sarcasm:

Seriously though, that was like a reverse Patrik Stefan, losing control and falling while defending the empty net.

Great crowd last night - seemed like a season opener type of crowd.

I give Buffalo credit for at least keeping it interesting. I really thought we could see a 7-1 blow-out.

To me it looked like he was making fun of him for diving.

I don't think you saw this one right. Joey went after him and was implying he dove. He gave him a pretty good shot with his shoulder and then had a few things to say.

I know you don't care for Joey, but this isn't something you can pin on him, IMO.

Evidently that did cloud what I saw. I'll admit that I'm biased. It happened right in front of me, five rows from ice. Seeing Joey's stupid grin... And floating style last night... Just pissed me off.

Random note:

First 5 years, I thought the "Shirts-off-our-back" was really special

Next 10 years, I thought it was cheesy, and my reaction was - "I'd rather have you guys be competitive instead of your jersey."

Last night was the best finale I can ever remember. And the first time I really, really wished I was down on the ice getting a sweater.

p.s. I get chills every time I see Bob clapping for the fans as he skates off the ice. And he does it every time after a win.

I was selected to participate in the 'Jersey Off The Player's Back' ceremony last night and thought it was very very cool...I sent my son out to get the jersey, but I think I had more fun than he did, lol...walking out on the ice you could feel the electricity of the crowd and 71's speech amped it up even more...shook a few players hands as they left the ice, the looks in their eyes gave me the feeling they wanted more [a playoff birth], plus a big start to next season...I've watched this deal over the years and always wanted to take part...trust me, it was more fun than you could imagine

who'd you get
Cody Goloubef....also shook hands with 51, 71, 72, 43 as they left the ice....told them 'great season, thanks for being here, etc' and they each seemed genuinely appreciative of the comments...it was something I never thought we'd do, very cool deal for sure :handclap:

Having been a season ticket holder for 15 years now, I would like to get a prize in ANY sort of contest. Never happened as of this date.
