Dylan Strome nets a hat trick and twabby's game puck. A nice night's work.
Charlie Lindgren, Alex Ovechkin, and Alex Alexeyev earn honorable mentions.
One man’s trash is another man’s treasure!Thank you Hawks for letting Strome go
He may very well leave (KHL) or ask out.He is RFA so he will sign here. Question is one or two years. But he is tradeable. We are just deep on Dee. Great problem to have. If he got same opportunity Fever got he would be a top 6.
I get the feeling Ovechkin would want to play against the Pens.Thinking with that win they rest more people Thursday before the playoffs
Alexeyev would be fine on the bottom pair.
Would you rather waste assets on veteran depth defenseman like a Mike Weber?
Capitals won the cup with Djoos…..
Management/Alexyev's agent could come to agreement they won't qualify Alexeyev, which would then make him a UFA instead of a RFA. I think for Alexeyev it would best to move on and sign with another NHL team. If no team has interest, then I would think he would move on to the KHL. It would be disappointing a bit, but this happens to NHL prospects from time to time. A less likely scenario could be where the Caps trade his rights or package him in a summer trade deal for something else.He may very well leave (KHL) or ask out.
They just won’t do that. Alexeyev is a valuable asset. The caps will want something for him. He is an nhl caliber defenseman even if not for caps. What’s a 7/8 D worth in a trade? They just won’t do that. Alexeyev is a valuable asset. The caps will want something for him. He is an nhl caliber defenseman even if not for caps. Still an asset.
Not much. But someone somewhere has been watching him and will see him as a top six. He will be on a cheap-ish contract. In the offseason someone will want that. Most teams aren’t as deep on the blueline. But we hold his rights. What’s a 7/8 D worth in a trade?
Fever returned with 30 mins left and played regular shifts the whole timeJoe B missed another game?
Hope Fever is ok.

He's a 5/6 D on many other teams, just not on this team. If for whatever reason we hadn't added Roy and Chych, he would have been playing here every night. But because we had room to make upgrades, he took the lumps.
He's not worth much, but he's also not worthless. There are definitely a few older teams down in the standings (Nash, Pitt, and NYI spring to mind) who would probably be willing to give up a mid-round draft pick for a 25 year old who has played well in spurts.Which horrible teams have a worse number 5? I can’t imagine many. Anyway doesn’t matter.
It’s not like we have a blue line full of HOFers he can’t get past. He’s been given ample playing time and can’t hold onto a starting spot.
I think some of you overrate AA.
Definitely never said he was worthless. He could steal a bottom pair role in the right situation. He's not worth much, but he's also not worthless. This is the league where Buffalo gave up the pick that turned into Cole Hutson for Malenstyn. You never know.
I think some of you overrate AA.
It’s a catch 22. Want to see him play but don’t want injuries.AA is an unknown to me like Ilorio.
Tall D guys who play tall and stiff
We saw a lot more of AA last year but I would question how well he could handle a strong forecheck .. puck retrieval, quick decisive decision making, correct decision making
It was a very nice problem to have in not having to play him this year bc we stayed mostly healthy
But I would like to see him get a fair chance next season
