Post-Game Talk: Game 80: It Don't Come Easy - Bruins lose shootout and only get one point

Honestly, after watching another quiet collapse with little to no emotion from the team about it, this needs to be the last season we start making decisions around not giving up on our core, what message are we sending to our core if we sell, etc.

It's not about (likely) missing the playoffs. It's about how they miss. Again.

I like the players in our core a lot but when you take emotion out of the equation, this might just not be a winning make up anymore. Doesn't seem to be strong leadership anymore, that's for sure.

After last night game there is only 3 questions to be answer:

Who do the Bruins pick at 14th on June 24?
Who will be the Bruins new Head Coach?
How much does Kevan Miller resign for?

Problem is, they drove right into it with no special anti-storm vehicle.

Just need a Philly win and us to win the last 2.

Big changes need to happen this offseason Chara and Seids need to go but I'd love to have one last crack at the playoffs with them.

1. Traded for a 4th line grinder on a long term deal
2. Cam Neely comes down from the gallery to lead this team to the cup
3. Whatever he wants. Open the vault and give him a full NMC. The man with the best Plus minus for a dman on this team deserves a hefty raise.

Is this true?

I think I just threw up in my mouth.

What a difference 2 weeks has made, I was looking forward to both the Bruins & Celtics advancing to 2nd & 3rd rounds respectively.....Sure hope Sweeney straightens all this mess out over the summer, too many players being asked to play above their skill level. However when they were comfortable in a playoff position, it didn't matter.

I said this back in September and advocated them playing C Miller and Morrow big minutes this year (during what I saw as a transition season) to see exactly what they were made of. Recently, you have said that Clode could not have played the young D because they would be further away from a playoff spot.

Which is it?

If this team simply has/had too many holes on defense to begin with, why not play the kids?

Because unless your young defensemen are all named Ray Bourque you aren't going to win many games while they're learning the NHL game. If Miller, Trotman & Co. played 70-75 games and logged tons of ice time everyone would be pissing & moaning about finishing well out of contention. Yet the Bruins brass made it clear their goal was the playoffs and that nothing less would do. Talk about being contradictory....

Wow. Am I ever glad that we kept Loui so Jacobs could try and sell some more Sodas and Beer during the playoffs. Just end the facade and bring Sinden back full time already. Disgraceful organization.

Analytics, the wave of the future. No need to watch players just scout based off numbers :sarcasm:

Biggest problems this team has right now is not the starting 6 we have on D (well it's in 3rd...), it's the lack of PP and the inability to score first.

Remember when the Bruins had a PP and scoring goals? I don't.

Since January 1st (44 games), Bruins have scored 17 PP goals in 124 tries. Good (or bad) for 13.7%.

The past 11 games, Bruins have had PP goals in only 3 games (3-0-0). These are their only 3 wins in that stretch (3-7-1). That means they are 0-7-1 when they don't score a PP goal.

Last night they had two huge PP in the first to get momentum and the 1st goal (only 3 times the past 11 games they scored first) and failed miserably.

I hear the Julien system is at fault for yesterday loss. Is the system telling them to be abysmal on the PP? It's the same unit that was scoring above 30% in the early stages of the season. What happened?

In the end, unless the PP finds a way to give the team some goals, it will likely result in 1 or two more losses and a DNQ.

Rask
PP
scoring 1st

Three most important things the next two games.

Opposing teams watch film, they realized much of the success came out of the bumper position that Bergy plays. They started collapsing more support on him. The Bruin's have not adapted, they could try to work the puck lower to try and take advantage of more open ice, go for more backdoor plays, but instead they usually just resort to cycling the puck back to point for either a blocked or missed shot.

Obviously some of this falls on the individual players, but I feel the coaching staff ( Sacco) needs to be more adaptive with the PP scheme.

He's got to be the guy that jumps on the ice just as the Bruins are scoring.

HA! I'm sure that's a part of it. I also have to say that he's the luckiest SOB around. When he makes a really bad play or a turnover, he's been bailed out a disproportionate amount of the time.

My how things have changed! A few short years ago we rocked the Garden with the chant: "We want the Cup".
Now the leather lungs are chanting "We want the playoffs. Lower expectations, I guess.

I think you have me confused with someone else, this has been my opinion for a while. I just went back and looked at my posts since the Chicago game to make sure since I can't remember half of the **** I say, and I've spent most of my time discussing Rask, not leadership issues.

Oh snap, ya. I totally confused you with Alicat. Apologies!

I could give two ***** about this. Miss the playoffs by 1 point, miss them by 20, the only difference is a better draft pick.

I was asking about YOUR opinion, not the B's FO. On several occasions, you have used the excuse that Clode could not play the kiddie D corps because it would have cost them games. Yet you went on record today as saying that the B's D-men are not good enough for them to be a playoff team. If that's the case, and you are going to miss the playoffs anyway, why not play the young D?

Are you saying that Clode could not play the young D because the resulting losses would cost him his job? He is at that precipice anyway, NOT playing the young D.

I'd be all for that if it means that he is no longer team President. Good Lord is he a bad president.
