This team is cooked. Gonna get swept in round 1. Despite the great seasons by Suzuki, Hutson, and Caufield, I’ve never felt like a Habs team was as overmatched heading into the playoffs quite like the one playing in front of us right now. They seem banged up and exhausted. Might be better to miss, honestly, rather than risk major injuries to our guys for an exercise in futility when they have nothing left like this.

I don't think they'll get swept, but I don't expect them to win a round. That's OK. There's still building to do. The D needs improvement.

I mean, we're running Matheson-Carrier as a #1 pair. Savard is done as a D in NHL. Hutson is a rookie. Guhle is still an inexperienced D. He's still under 200 games & is only 23.

The forwards need more talent up front. We need a 2C. We need a bit more grit & size, too.

It's a still a team in the growth phase. Demidov will play Monday. He's 19.

That first PP was excellent.
The 2nd a bit less dangerous but also some high quality puck movement

PK bend but not breaking against 6th best PP in the league.

Shots don't look great but we've carried big stretches of the game.

Laine being healthy is different. He's flashing the all world talent that had him a toss up with Matthews.

We are playing playoff hockey.

Our best with this core is years away, and if/when we make the playoffs, we'll see our best hockey of the season. Which will make us dangerous. Book it.

Suzuki hasn't been the same since that hit he took. Also, outside of shooting, Laine is a liability even on the PP.

Not this season - all rookie line at this point makes little sense imo. Especially when none have played center in the NHL or at all in a senior pro league like Demidov and Roy. I'd be terrified to play Kapanen at C right now. They can try it next preseason/early season. Though I don't see Roy in the organization in the next 12 to 24 months.
