GDT: Game 80: Habs vs Leafs, April 12th, 7 PM | CBC, SN, TVAS

I have a bad feeling this game is going to get away from us early and often

I think on last week’s episode of the Notebook, Basu mentioned something like in the last 40 games or so, we’ve been down heading into the third period for half the games. We’ve been able to come back in a lot of them but this is a worrying trend most of the season.

I hope so, but it does seem like MSL is coaching more scared and wants to rely on the guys with the most NHL experience rather than whoever is better
Pezz is useless, he can manage Demidov like he does with Pezz life he is that scared of him struggling. He doesn't need to play him 20 minutes or so for his 1st fame.

Don’t think this coach has a rational thought in his brain. He’s watching his team get absolutely demolished this last week, lucky to get wins against the Preds and Wings but keeps churning out the same lines. Savard needs a break on a back-to-back against the lowly Preds but somehow not against the insane firepower of the Leafs? There’s zero logic.
Entirely rational if he's privy to information regarding the player's health to which we do not have access, which, considering Heineman hasn't seemed remotely "right" since his injury, seems highly likely.

Never letting Xhekaj see NHL ice is the most obvious decision that any NHL coach could make; he is worse than useless. Going with five defensemen would probably be a better option, let alone the corpse of Savard.

Yep. Gotta lock it up fast.

I can’t help but envision all this premature celebrating and we just end up missing it by some freak occurrence.
That would overshadow what they’ve accomplished in my opinion. On a side note, Caulfield needs to hit 40 and Hutson needs assists to break Murphy’s record!!!

Habs have to get 3 points in the next 3 games and i am not convinced they will.
The Montreal Canadiens missed their chance to clinch their spot in the playoffs on Friday after losing to the Ottawa Senators, but they don't have to wait long to get another chance.

If the Canadiens beat the Toronto Maple Leafs in regulation Saturday night, or if they win in overtime or a shootout and the Blue Jackets don't beat the Capitals in regulation, Montreal will clinch a playoff spot.

Montreal can also clinch a playoff berth with an overtime or shootout loss, as long as the Blue Jackets lose to the Capitals in any fashion.

Essentially they need a regulation win if they want to clinch it ce soir

Anyone else a bit worried that MSL won't play Demidov on Monday unless we clinch tonight?
Who The F Knows with that idiot, I almost wish the Habs would have gotten demolished this year 7-0 every game and he would have gotten fired. Didn't like it when he was appointed the head coaching job and I hate it even more now seeing how he's mis managing players.

4 up and 3 a piece? Habs always play the Leafs tough so wouldn't be surprised if they won, hopefully at least an OT point. Got Hawks up next so that should be a fairly easy 2 points. CBJ isn't going to catch up imo

They just have to win one game in regulation. With two games at home, one against the worst road team in the league they should be able to lock up a playoff spot. They’ve put themselves into a position to make the playoffs by being the 8th best team in the league since Carrier played his 1st game as a Habs player. It’s up to them now to secure it.

Oilers fan since 06, recently made a new account here after losing my info many years ago. Mind if I jump on the bandwagon?

Always been a fan of Montreal's winger depth. For many years now I was jealous and often trying to pry a couple wingers out of you in trade proposals. Incredibly deep lineup in contrast to Edmonton.

I was really hoping we'd snag Laine, and it looks like you got a great deal on him. Along with Demidov coming in, the group is poised to be an upset opponent.

I thought Guhle was going to be an absolute star. Maybe he still will but how has he looked this season? Loved watching him play earlier on in his career and was oozing potential. Looks like Hutson has come in and stolen the show huh.

Habs have to have the most balanced roster in the league. 11 forwards who are all bonafide, very solid, 0.5 ish ppg players. Depth all the way through. Adding Demidov makes that 12.

Not a fan of the defence core past Hutson. One player who looks absolutely incredible in my limited viewing was Mailloux. Is he expected to be around for the playoffs? If not, how come? Huge, fast skating, highly skilled. Seems like he should've been given more leash from my outside perspective.
Two different types of defensemen. Hutson’s stolen the show with his puck-moving and offensive instincts, especially on PP. But Guhle still plays a crucial role - he’s a shutdown presence and handles tough minutes defensively. The flashier, point-producing player tend to get more attention, but the Guhles of this world are just as important. Happy to have them both
