Maybe not but the "sky is falling" crowd is getting old when it's plain as day why they've not had their best. It's not like they all of a sudden suck it's 100% just playing out the string.
I think the sky is falling crowd is saying it doesn’t matter why they are playing like sh*t, it’s that playing like this over the last 12 games is problematic heading into the playoffs. The reason they are playing like sh*t isn’t that important for the point here.

Could be worse…. Being a Habs fan hoping the Caps win to knock out the Jackets from race

They got absolutely emasculated this weekend. They should be embarrassed.

Chris Patrick obviously has made some shrewd moves but he clearly crapped the bed with the Eller move.

It's almost like 1 team has locked up a playoff spot and home ice throughout the east and one team is fighting for a possible spot as the last WC. Almost like one team has something to play for and ones doesn't. A win is no injuries at this point they're coasting and have been. Everyone can bitch and whine about needing to get right before the playoffs but you just can't manufacture the intensity when they have nothing to play for and haven't since the record was broken.
It just doesn’t work that way. You need to have good habits and momentum going into playoffs.

Yes that's the pro sport, pro athlete attitude!

That's what Stanley Cup Champions are made of.

Meanwhile the Leafs 8-1-1 Jets 7-3-0 and Vegas 7-2-1 and all of them in the same position with NOTHING to play for.

It’s one thing to coast a bit when you don’t have anything to play for, that’s to be expected. It’s another thing to just be embarrassing, and that’s how they’ve been playing recently.

One of the best ways to break out of a slump is to get physical, start throwing the body and get yourself into the games. Hard to do that when you are worrying about getting hurt for the playoffs. Running out of runway to turn things around. We know this is a super capable team, they just haven’t been playing that way at all. Something has to give or we won’t have many games left this year.

It’s crazy how this team has not learned to adapt through a neutral zone trap. It just destroys their game. This is on Carbs too. He needs to fine tune his system.

What are talking about? Habs will be highly motivated and want to beat the Caps badly! Habs control their own playoff destiny. They host the Hawks and Canes for their final 2 games. All they have to do is win 1 of their games in any manner, and then they are in to play us!

Breaking the neutral zone trap is easy, just move the puck up the ice. Problem is, every single one of our defensemen do the twirly twirl in the d zone and try to pass the puck to the defenseman on the other side and try and play the back and forth passing game in the d zone. Other teams know this and just station a guy in that lane which leads to us losing the puck and giving up goals (and TVR and Roy flub every pass, so that doesn't help either). Teams like CBJ and Montreal are too fast for that. The next defensemen on the caps to do that move should be banished right to the press box.
