■ Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson participated in his first NHL on-ice session today. Forsbacka Karlsson signed his three-year, entry-level contract on Monday. The former Boston University center will not play tonight. The native of Sweden is awaiting a change on his immigration status from student to professional hockey player. “It’s very exciting right now,†Forsbacka Karlsson said. “It’s been a couple different kind of days here. But it’s nice to get the first practice done with.â€
■ Charlie McAvoy, Forsbacka Karlsson’s ex-BU teammate, could get the call for Thursday’s game against Ottawa. Tonight would have been McAvoy’s third game in four nights after appearing in back-to-back matches for Providence.
