So Larsson has a horendus game yesterday and stays in

Tedenby gets bounced up and down on a different line every shift, with no room for error and then is eventually demoted

and one of our best defensemen has been scratched

wtf brah

Gotta get the best prospect with this first round pick since we gotta make it worth 2 normal first round picks seeing as we have to give up one... :sarcasm:

DeBoer on Volch.

Although defenseman Anton Volchenkov had the obvious turnover on his fanned pass attempt that led to Chris Kunitz’s second period goal Saturday in Pittsburgh, DeBoer said he’s been happy with the way Volchenkov has been playing.

“I think Volchie’s been pretty consistent,†DeBoer said. “Volchie gives you the same game every night. He makes you pay a price to play against him. He’s not the fleetest of foot or the most agile guy out there, but you know when he’s on the ice and I’ve been happy with his game and what he brings to us.â

I have enough unfettered optimism for every last one of you, but I'm coming nowhere near this place if there's a loss.

Ugh, either play Matteau or send him back.

Edit: yes, I know this might seem contrary to my views on Larsson, but as I see it Larsson is obviously NHL caliber, Matteau is not.

Agreed. He needs to go back for now. What are we gonna keep him up here to be a 4th line plug the rest of the year?

Please beat this trash today. I'm tired of all this ''Isles are competitive again!'' crap. That's cause teams like us, and the Pens are yielding them points. Do not yield them points today.

Coaching staff and Lou is a lot higher on him then most of us. Tallinder's looked good playing only ES minutes and not much at that. Volch was playing more then anyone other then Sal yesterday and was gonna easily play over 20 mins until he was benched.

And for the people who want him traded, a healthy scratch doesn't look good. So there is hope for you guys. ;)

Or Volchenkov is being showcased by Lou which is why he wasnt scratched ;)

So much for the ridiculous theory that Tallinder is the ''Defenseman Pete trusts the most''

Tallinder frustrates me because he has all the tools and is at best a decent #4. He could be so much more then that offensively speaking.

And what makes that ridiculous

I remember a bunch of people saying that, and it's why Tallinder won't be traded. I think they took the comment where Pete said he's a top 2 defenseman a little too seriously.

Why is he a healthy scratch today, and not Volchenkov if Pete trusts him the most ? You gonna tell me Pete trusts him more than Fayne, and Greene?

It's not ridiculous.

Fayne & Greene are the undisputed top pairing.
Sal is the captain.
Volch is the PK specialist.
Zid is the PP specialist.
Larsson needs to get some NHL games under his belt this season.

Tallinder has been and always will be the odd man out, regardless of how much he is "trusted" or not.

If you ask me I don't think Tallinder played any worse yesterday than most of the team. I still don't think Volchenkov has been too bad, but yesterday he was. His contract does straight up suck though.

For the record I have no problem with scratching Tallinder by the way.

The board after yesterdays loss was bad . If we loss today we may go total meltdown mode

If we were at this point in a regular 82 game season, I'd normally agree with you and there would likely be less panic

Unfortunately we're in a 48 game season and the past 3-4 games have not been pretty, the room for error is small and we have a tough schedule coming up this week which will have an impact on where we head this season

Despite playing less-than-stellar, they've still picked up points along the way.

That's why we can cool it with the panic button while the team settles in.

Considering how many of the "elite" teams in the conference also got off to rocky starts, there's a little more cushion.

If this trend continues for another week, I'll start seeing some cracks in the sky opening up... but at this point, I only see room to get better.

And what makes that ridiculous

If Tallinder was the guy Pete trusted 'the most', he'd be playing the most. Or at least playing in all different situations.

I'm actually surprised Larsson didn't go back to the bench after yesterday, I figured that was a certainty. Volch was already benched - yesterday.
