Yup, the grim reaper comes fast and usually without warning. The Blackhawks won 50 games in 16/17 and then a year later they were near the basement.
The Bruins were an anomaly. Great core they kept building around and happened to hit on picks (McAvoy, Pastrnak, Swayman) at the exact time they needed to keep the good times going. Even with parts of the core gone they found a way last year.
You can only outrun it so long.
