Man if you told me 3 months ago this team would fall to third in their division, I might not have believed you. Sure as shit doesn't instill confidence going into the playoffs.

And before somebody says "durr injuries...duh!", let me remind you that they were pretty f***ing healthy all season until the Four Nations ended. Not only did they fail to give themselves any sort of cushion to weather a storm, but their tire fire play started with most of their players still in the line-up. Yeah, so stuff it.

You want to know the single largest reason they've fallen so far down the standings? It's not injuries. It's #74, Mr. California "Can't Move Laterally" Closets. I reckon that bozo has cost this club at least 10 points in the standings.

Interesting. Pickard playing against the Kings might be a sign that he’s our game 1 starter. I doubt it but gives me hope.

He will be if the starting goalie is determined solely on merit. Unfortunately nothing leads me to believe that the decision will be based solely on merit. Fatso has a trump card. He's from Edmonton.

If we're being honest with ourselves it was a team effort between 74, 97, 14, 2, 93 and 18 during that rancid stretch after the 4 Nations.

Our top line was flat out abysmal in both ends of the ice, our top pair was a tire fire, and we couldn't get a save. Just pinning that all on Skinner isn't fair, the team was rancid top to bottom largely fuelled by terrible performances from the top of the lineup players.

I think the team will be going hard tonight to clinch\clench the playoffs tonight. We arent catching the Kings or Vegas anymore so just once we clinch they games will get 'boring'.
Hope so! Actually might stay up to watch on a Friday. Gotta get rested up for the late playoff games ha.

A very good backup actually. Probably one of the best in the league. Average starter, IMHO. He's not horrible.

Not trying to get into a debate but Pickard right now has the W L stats to prove he’s the best backup league wide. Many of Skinners stats were the worst among starters outside of Grubauer in Seattle until he was demoted to the AHL. Now many / most of Skinners stats are the worst in the league among starters….and almost all backups as well.

Skinner has had a very poor year outside his 2 month hot streak.

You sure? I'm pretty sure I saw someone write that he's not even an NHL goalie, let alone a very good backup.;):D

Paired with Emberson, which should work. I wonder if he gets a look with Bouchard on the 1st PP. Also, I wonder if he can find his first goal tonight. That would be pretty cool honestly.

This is precisely why I don't hate on Skinner. He's being put into a position he's not suited for. Remember the days of "Taylor Hall, #1 Center"? It's similar to think due to management's failure to properly address concerns. That they did nothing all year just screams abject incompetence.

The best Oilers management setting up a player to fail is “Justin Schultz, future Norris Trophy winner”.

One thing I noticed from him is he isn't afraid to get quick, low shots to the net and he's good at getting them through.

Bouch should take note - not sitting on every puck for 5 seconds before doing something with it does pay dividends.

Huge news folks

I passed my commisioner for Oaths test and received my certificate

What this means is I now officially own the Oilers and everyone on this board. I would like everyone to send me A and W coupons immediately as a first mission.

That is all for now

That's it for Rodrigue folks. If he ever develops into an NHL goalie, it won't be with us. Truly sad he only got one NHL start with us in his career.
maybe they saw dustin schwartz talking to him and wanted to get him out of town before he got worse

The team's offense outside of Draisatl was next to non-existent, especially in the bottom six.

As silly as it sounds, I think are goalies actually play by far there best hockey when they litterally rotate every game. Seeing as apparently Schwartz has total control over goaltending and who starts he would be 2 dumb to notice this and also the media attention that rotation would get would be comical lol esp in playoffs
