It's not like we're going to have a lot to block him. I doubt he ever turns into anything, but no sense in worrying about dumping him - though if someone wants him, great.

I'd take Ferraro, Mukhamadullin, Liljegren, Desharnais, Thompson, and Vlasic over him. Then you have to consider the prospects like Cagnoni and Dickinson.

My feeling is that there is only so much space for prospects, even on a developing team, and the Sharks just may not want to give one to Thrun, even if he shows a lot of improvement during the offseason.

I think he is what he is at this point: a barely tolerable low-end 7th D/AHL shuttle guy. He shouldn't be playing regularly on a half-decent NHL roster unless someone's hurt.

He's under contract next season so there's no reason not to bring him into camp and see what happens even if we don't expect much.

I don't think there's another role for him to adjust to. He's not solid enough with the puck to be an offensive guy, and he's not smart or quick enough on decisions to be a (old style) Vlasic-lite defensive anchor.

@Mrs Ski 698-2 for directTV, I just found "Local Sports Overflow Channel" which doesn't say the game is on, but the pregame is on and when I flipped it on it had the channels for both. AT&T?! channel 1699...

I mentioned this in the prospects board but his wrist shot reminds me of vintage Pavelski. When Pavs first came into the league, his goals were mostly sharp, accurate wrist shots (remember his penalty shots?)

He should be a throw-in for some trade as should guys like Dellandrea, Grundstrom, or Desharnais. Out of all those guys though, I'd prefer to keep Thrun before them. That's not a high bar though.
