Which is really disappointing for a former 2OA pick but doesn't mean he can't be a net positive middle six player for a contender. You know, the type of guy that teams, like the Rangers, end up trading multiple picks for at the deadline because they don't have them on their team. I think there is a distinction there. He has no elite offensive skills.
Because at the SHL level, he did show elite offensive skills. It just unfortunately didn't translate to the NHL level and he's not the only top 5 pick in the last few years where that is the case. Neither is Lafreniere although he absolutely has shown moments of those elite skills which is all the more maddening that he just looks invisible out there this whole season. How was he ranked so high in the draft? (I'm not arguing, just wondering.)
Yep, I started planning around it by not really watching the games anymore.Only just getting home and seeing the lineup and the score. Eventually, I will forget the score. I will not forget the lineup. We are incapable of giving promising young players room to play. We refuse to do it, and we will continue to refuse to do it; we may as well just start planning around it.
Lavi is likely gone after this season. Drury had a public spat with Turk, after a game, during the Rangers/Devils series. I'm surprised he hasn't done so with Laviolette. Either way, I don't see Lavi heading into next season as a lame duck coach but you never know. Oh and I don't believe Drury is going anywhere.
