Xhekaj is better than Savard and since Struble have been paired with him, he doesn't look better than Xhekaj so our playoff picture isn't affected at all

You seem to be completely ignoring the penalty kill, which is easily Savard's biggest strength and his major contribution to this team and something Xhekaj absolutely couldn't replace.

You’re right, but they can still pass the Sens. It just depends on who they prefer to play in round one. The Leafs might be the better matchup.
I personally think Caps is the better matchup.

Also, passing the Sens will require the Sens to lose games (more than one).

In the Atlantic - I don't like Toronto. It's funny to always make fun of them - but I could actually see them go far this year.

Toronto is absolutely my first choice, if I could pick any Eastern team to face, it would definitely be the Leafs.

They are still buttery soft and their most important players are, to a man, cowardly and they shy away from the tighter, tougher more physical playoff hockey.

We have seen it time and time again, when the games matter the most, when the hockey gets more physical and when there is a price to pay to win, these guys wilt.

Also, I don't think there's a more unproven and dubious goaltending duo than Anthony Stolarz and Joseph Woll. Nevermind the teams, if I could pick a single goaltender to face in the East, again, I chose the Leafs for sure.

Have they once try him on PK? Of gave him an adequate chance to show what he can do? Perhaps he can lay down on the ice just as good as Savard.

They have in fact. He needs reps there. He wasn’t protecting the sticks much in front of the net.

Again, he’s a puppy hockey wise. Let’s have him grow up a bit. He’s got athletic qualities. He just needs to learn how to play better during defensive assignments.

Savard and MM needed to sit and deserve a scratch

Oh, sorry, perhaps you stopped following the team in early Feb :dunno:

Here's the update:

We are in a playoff spot with 4 games remaining.

We're riding a 6 game win streak, during which we have an 89% PK efficiency (8th best)

MM & DS lead our PK on the backend

Matheson was also the 3rd most used player in the league during this stretch.

So yeah... Since we aren't tanking, zero chance your wish to downgrade our roster to get some young guys more reps gets met.

Uh, Arbs has played all year and will be needed in the playoffs .. and to GET to the playoffs. Sitting Savard has no impact on this team. We need the kid to play, he's been here all year in the trenches, you don't bench him for 3 then play him for one. If you want to do anything in the playoffs, he will be important and may as well rest a guy or two regardless. Watch the Sens dick around tonight and everyone cry 'why no Arbs!' it's just a matter of time.

Not me. Leafs are a much better team and hungrier imo.

We can agree to disagree.

I would absolutely welcome a series against the Maple Leafs and I think every single team in the East feels the exact same way.

Their "Core Four" are cowardly, don't like being hit and don't have that extra gear to fight through more physical, tougher, quicker playoff hockey.

I agree they have disappointed in the past. However I just think they got better, tougher and deeper. Caps to me are an easier matchup. They've already peaked with that Ovechkin record chase and I don't think they have much left in the tank. Not sure if Habs are good enough to beat them without a true #1 in net, but I'd rather play them. And Caps are the undisputed kings of finishing 1st and losing to lower seeds...it's in their dna lol!

This has become mental for them. That will be berube's biggest challenge.

Roster wise, i think they are better assembled than years past. They improved their defense and goaltending. It's mental now.
