Here is the grim reality

If the Bruins can hold on to the 4th pick, they have a shot at a good center that may make the team next year.

But you think we are a mess? Just take a look at the New York Rangers.
I wouldn't expect any of them to play in the NHL next year and if they did it would be a waste of a year IMO. Only Schaefer is NHL "ready" imo and I wouldn't dothat either

Hopefully the Devils still have something to play for. Seems like they’re kind of locked into that 3 slot though.

Hope Geekie pots his 30th tonight. Probably one of the lone feel good stories about this team this year.

Well...How about Pasta?
Maybe should added the qualifier of “other than Pasta” haha.

Really interested to see how the leadership shakes out next year between McAvoy and Pasta. Pasta is a scoring machine, we know this.. but the way more interesting story to me for Pasta is he just the captain now after leading the team through this hellacious stretch after 4 Nations?

If you asked me a calendar year ago I would’ve gave it to McAvoy, but now that he’s been hurt the second half of the season… Pasta has emerged. End of the day, the more “leaders” you have, the better.

Pasta was more of a leader than Mac BEFORE Mac was injured.

I hope they can find at least one other to put an "A" on (besides Pasta and Mac) before next season....It would be nice to have a few more that are leaders without letters also.

...of course Brad may be back

Oh wow!!!
Thx Joe for the tip!!!

"Hello Mr. Bookie. A hundo on the Bruins for the win!"

That’s an interesting perspective to have. You’re obviously closer to the team than I. I only watch on my couch and see what guys are leading by example on the ice :)

Recency bias tells me Pasta is that guy. If he’s always been that guy behind the scenes at the same time.. then maybe there isn’t much to figure out there then haha

Well, I am closer because I literally sit right next to the team. We see much of what happens on the bench (as well as the ice) .

Maybe Pasta doesn't want the "C"?? ...but he sure is acting captain right now....to a depleted team with little other leadership.

The tank will be tested tonight... NJD basically has a 100% chance of playing Carolina in round 1. They don't have much to play for.

But I believe in this group to get the job done :thumbu:

Well neither did Buffalo and the tank did just fine. I think it's smooth failing from here on out. We have the swamp rats to end the season at home a week from tonight, too. They're half of the remaining season

I think Chicago will be the real test

it’s 100% a crapshoot right now. Any team in a playoff spot may take it easy against us and being an effort league could pull out some wins. Bad teams that would think we have a better chance will mostly likely play harder because they are trying to establish themselves for next season. So roll the dice, cause I have no idea what to expect

5-4 regulation loss
Pasta with 3 and 2 assists

Geekie with 1 and 2 assists
No odd man rush goals because of Lohrei (BadPinch)<tm>
That would be awesome. I could see it thou. The official scorer giving him an assist on his own goal, because it was such a spectacular goal, and due to the fact that he’s been on an island all year basically by himself.

What's the point of a good showing? half the guys playing out the string will be gone next season. Lose anyway you can, winning has no positive effect at this point. At least not to me.

The point is quite simply I will have a better time watching the game if they play at least vaguely well. There will also be paying Bruins fans in attendance (there always are) and you hope they get to see at least something positive.

As for the players I would mostly agree there is little to be gained, but not nothing. A guy like Mittelstadt, for example, probably isn't going anywhere, like it or not. Are we going to see anything more from him in these last few games? And Lindholm has looked better of late than he has all season. If he can carry some good form and confidence into the offseason that might be useful. And as a group they're not going out there to just lose. That can't be their mentality and for the most part I'm not seeing that it is.

I'm aware of the situation. Of course it's better if they lose. I want a top 5 pick as much as anybody. But there's no harm in hoping this is a competitive game.

I understand your thought process.

I want this game to be as uncompetitive as possible. At least until it’s out of reach. Would love to see 4-0 Jersey after 1
