Game 78 - Get some and lock up the East

Another positive, Lindgren has stopped 15/16(I aint counting that 2nd goal against him as there is nothing you can do when your teammate rams the opponent into to have a domino effect). Canes have the 2nd best PK in the league, so getting a PP goal against them is a bright spot.

You can tell they're not really all there mentally when they all follow the puck like a herd of mites on ice.

Spacing, passing, support, speed of movements, move your feet. All things they were doing when hot but aren't doing now.

The difference is mental disengagement....going through the motions and just reacting to the puck.

They have the rest of this game and then 4 more to get their heads screwed back on straight.

Yeah, for most of the season they weren’t chasing the game, they were supporting each other and in the places they needed to be like clockwork. Now it’s like they have no idea what the other players on the ice are doing.

Regarding that PP goal, I won't call that doing nothing and then something happened. The goal was scored because the Caps beat the Canes in that moment with what the Canes are strong at, which is coming with speed. It was a nifty pass through some players and a nice redirect by PLD. I will also add, Andersen because he had only faced 4 shots up to that point, probably could have stopped that as it looked to squeeze through his 7-hole.

You might want to factor also the Caps haven't played a game for 3 days. They will get their legs back somewhat in the 2nd and rightfully so in the 3rd.

I will say that Carolina is deeply vulnerable to counter attacks because of the amount of forechecking pressure they use. Simplifying the passing should spring a lot of chances.

I like Walton better than Joe B, but that is just my opinion. Walton to me has a better, stronger voice than Joe B and has more of a powering excitement when the Caps score goals, make a big hit or the goalie makes a big save.
I dont listen on radio much anymore but he has been good at changing his delivery from radio to TV. Really solid.
