GDT: Game 77: Winnipeg Jets @ Utah Hockey Club | 4/5/2025 5:00 p.m. MDT | Utah16, Arizona 61

I was able to watch the entire game last night, albeit a little later than live. The team played very good! When the Jets fell behind 2-0, they made a big push and Utah pushed back. In the past Utah/Az would have folded at this point, but no! The same scenario played out close to the end of the game with Utah up 3-1 and the Jet’s goalie pulled.
The Utah fans are loving Veggie, who was #1 star. They chanted “Veggie” and threw broccoli on the ice after the game!
We are still not eliminated!

To me, this season, meaningful games means learning opportunities from adversity. Has nothing to do with making the playoffs. It's about the battle and not giving up.
So like Buffalo winning 6 of their last 7? Meaningful games stopped about 2 weeks ago. These are zero pressure games for most players.

All I know is they say that teams have to lose in the playoffs before they win in the playoffs. Must be some lessons in there so I think there's also some lessons to be learned in the regular season end grind as long as they don't quit.

Every win increases the team's point totals over last season and I consider that meaningful.

We hit the second page!! It will be hard to stay engaged with another wasted year. But next year....
I didn’t watch the game….. watching the replay right now.

Can guarantee we would’ve made three pages easily from what I’ve seen so far

True, but playing and beating the Jets, first overall in the NHL, at this time of year, is a very good sign. The Jets still need and want points so it wasn't like they played their back up goalie, or rested their stars when playing this team like years past. These may be zero pressure games but they might show what kind of character this team has going forward.

More likely the Jets took the night off then anything else but more wins the better, it beats tanking at end of year.

I dunno. The Jets might have been a little complacent to start ( maybe) , but they pushed pretty hard in the 2nd and 3rd. Utah did a good job getting an early lead. And Veg was good.

I agree - tanking is no good

Buffalo just beat Washington, Tampa, and Winnipeg. What does it mean for them?? Nothing is the correct answer.

I'm sure if you ask the players, coach etc. that wouldn't be their answer.
Hahaha yeah because NHL Players are well known for actually telling you what they think??? They give as much insight as these next few games mean.

Exactly. About as much insight as your posts.

Have you ever listened to any players speak after they retire? I listen to quite a few and have heard many talk about playing out the stretch. U-hauls booked, flights planned, etc while they can't wait to get out of town. But hey you go ahead and think that the HC Players are different and are learning every day playing games that mean squat. The goal now is to not look bad without risking injury.

I believe that the veterans who have been playing in the NHL for a number of years would hate playing these games, especially if they have been in this situation before, but for for young teams still in the hunt for playoffs these games mean a lot more. Now for the teams out of the playoffs for some time, I understand it would be hard to play out the stretch.

Utah has been out of the playoffs for some time now. Younger players might still play hard they need jobs next year. Established Vets like Keller/Schmaltz/Durzi/Sergi, they know its over and have jobs next year. Its such a team sport though, its tough to evaluate anything under meaningless conditions including the coach.

Everyone of those vets that you mentioned have been playing their ass off. I really don't know what you are trying to say with your post.
