not sure where you got those figures considering the wings only have 6 games left
there are too many possible scenarios left to list them all but we have 1 game in hand, so if we win tonight in regulation we just need to win 2 more games than montreal the rest of the season because we will have the rw tiebreaker

Honestly if they near win out and miss i wont consider this season a failure. Sure SY misfired last off-season with UFAs which may ultimately cost them a spot but with the emergence of kasper, aljo, soberblom, and ed standing pat at 9th isn't so bad; progress rarely is linear and i think this sets us up well to take a bit of a leap up next season.

The way I figure, this is their playoffs. So they're getting high pressure games no matter what. As long as they compete hard and stay in these games, it's worth it.

If/When the Wings miss the playoffs this season, it will once again be because they can't beat the 4 teams they are directly rebuilding against.
