One of the worst trades ever, and it was evident to most the second it was made.
Yeah, it was kinda like the Gomez McDonough trade, but worse. I remember in the draft I was hoping that we would get Forsberg somehow ... and then trade for garbage! Wow!

If Capitals had not made the panic move, with Forsberg, Obi, Carlson, Backstrom, and Wilson, Washington would have been perennial Stanley cup contenders.

This isn't a must win game more of a "it would be nice to win." With 3 games in 4 days and that 3rd game back home in Montreal against Detroit, I'd rest guys. Detroit game is must win.

● Start Dobes
● Sit Armia & bring in Roy
● Sit Savard & bring in Xhekaj
● Don't allow anyone to go over 20 minutes, including Suzuki, Hutson & Matheson. 20 minutes maximum limit.

Caufield - Suzuki - Slafkovsky
Laine - Newhook - Roy
Evans - Dvorak - Gallagher
Pezzetta - Kapanen - Heineman

Guhle - Carrier
Struble - Hutson
Xhekaj - Matheson

Dobes
Montembeault

I think we can win with this lineup and making sure no one is over played.

As much as I like Roy, if we were to put him back in the lineup he shouldn't be on the same line as Laine.

Knowing how MSL coaches his team I don't expect any changes other than Dobes.

Those Free Agent signing disasters couldn't happen to a better franchise than Nashville, I hope it handicaps them for another 10 years.

I love your thinking here. Whether or not the habs win, it gives a mini break for some guys who need it for the final 5 games (if needed).

What's funny is if someone posted this lineup some months ago everyone would take it as a shameless attempt at hardcore tanking

Somehow MSL has them playing at a significant level... and somehow MSL has haters even today. Motivating players to play at or above their station is literally what coaching is all about.
Truly impressive stuff. That lineup still looks like dogs*t on paper & yet we've been one of the better teams since December

Back to back games in different time zones is a recipe for a bad night.
The Habs did win earlier this year when they played back to back in different time zones. When they played in Chicago and then Colorado the next night

Yes he lives in Montreal during the season and he wanted to be there for the birth of his 1st child
He could have played last night but if she went into labor he would have to leave and they would be a man down (2 with Pezzetta in the lineup)

Not a must win like @MarkovsKnee mentioned. Not sure of their record in b2b this year. But Nashville is full of vets and is rested. I expect a loss. If they win, it will essentially put their first feet in the playoff door.

The important one is Tuesday. If Detroit and Columbus lose today, it’ll make it less harrowing the rest of the way. Florida is resting players for the playoffs (injured players, they call it). Not expecting much against a very desperate Detroit team.

I'm thinking he took his wife to the hospital when she went into labor so it was before the game.

One of the best 1st lines in the league, I assume one of the best 3rd lines in the league, an elite defenceman, and solid goaltending. I can see why it’s enough to squeeze in.

Looks like David Savard did not travel with the team, just saw him in town at a family activity (I see him once in a while, didn’t expect to see him today).

Would be cool to see how we'd do without the worst 2nd and 4th line in the league.
