GDT: [Game #77] Dallas Stars @ Minnesota Wild – 2:00 PM CT (TNT)

I hope they prove me wrong and I’ll be the first to admit it. Just don’t have a ton of confidence in them at the moment.
You don't have to admit anything if they go on a tear and win, you can just be happy and enjoy it. And I'm not saying you need to believe they are about to win the cup. But I think the truth of the matter is, while they aren't playing great right now, they are still a very good team who can and has the ability to win games. Playoffs are a different beast, and these games don't hold much weight.
Yup but a month ago we were 1 in PK and 4 in PP and winning puck battles on the boards and making passes out of our zone.
Stars have been pretty much middle of the league the entire season, 15-20ish.

Guess we need to win the division then.
Which we pissed away our opportunity to do.

We're not going to beat the Jets Thursday. I'm going to put money down on it, that's how confident I am.
It'll be easier money than betting against the wild in the PO is

I'm giving you a pass on the negative talk, since you are at least consistent with it.

Jets aren't exactly playing great right now and it's a home game. I'm gonna be positive and say we have a chance, which means we still have a chance at winning the division. And Jets still have games against the Blues and Oilers.

Oilers lost dria again, and still don't have McDavid back. Maybe they will by the 13th, but if not that's an team that's only a little better than the wild without kaprizov. Basically a lotto team

Jets are 6-4 in their last 10 and just lost to Utah 4-1 last night. They aren't exactly punching their ticket as the Central champs. We still have a decent chance, that's all I'm saying.

You're arguing results, which obviously are ultimately what matters. But happening to lose 4 games while outplaying the team your losing to, or at the very least losing an evenly played game, is much different than getting dominated by every team you play and happening to win.

The jets even last night against Utah were the better team.

Go look at the jets last 4 losses and see how often they are actually outplayed or even out shot, or out shot by a 2-1 margin.

Since March 9th the jets haven't given up more than 29 shots in a game (14 total games)

Since March 9th the stars have had 4 games where they've allowed less than 29shots (14 total games)

Since Feb 1st,
We've averaged 25 shots for and 33 against

The jets
27 for and 25 against

The sharks ( who have 5 wins in that time)
Averaged 27 for and 29 against.

Sure there's something to be said for the shot quality, but constantly hemorrhaging shots against is not an encouraging sign.

Giving up 40 to the garbage ass wild is a very bad sign.

And as you shorten the frame the stars look worse and worse.
They are winning in spite of being absolute dog shit on the ice.

The jets are losing in spite of still playing decent hockey

And yet we are still (climbed our way up) in the race for the President's trophy. I'm not saying people can't be uninspired by their play, but I'm not gonna jump off the cliff until we're on the edge.

Have you actually been watching the Jets the past 4 games?

Just a few posts from the Jets board after the game against Utah:
- losing Nik for tonight was a bridge to far for the rest of the team as they sleep walked thru the first two periods.
- That was really ‘orrible.
- What a f***ing terrible game. Puck management was gross, and the Jets had little answer to Utah's forecheck in the first 2 periods.
- Whatever lineup we threw out there.......first 35 minutes was putrid and unacceptable.
- Well that was a turd in the punch bowl. A decent third just added a bit of whipped cream to the mix.

It doesn't sound like the consensus is they were the better team to last night, and that's coming from their own fanbase.

Honestly, their board sounds just like ours after a loss, with a few sprinkles of sunshine.

Imagine thinking the last month of the regular season directly translates to the playoffs
It all depends on if they flip the switch when the playoffs start. I think people are justifiably worried that these past dozen games or so are concerning if we continue to play like this when the regular season ends. Right now we all just better pray to God that they're saving their effort for a deep run and not just legitimately sucking ass

By the way I think of cheers because the little girls’ head emoji looks like two beer bottles clanging on mobile. A cheers emoji would be tight.

I'm guessing next year the Stars win the cup. Not this year.
After this year Nill will address the defense once and for all. Losing both Miro and Nils was obviously a back breaker.
If it means not being as deep at the forward group so be it.

It gets old, we're a top 3 team in the league, still winning despite losing Miro and Seguin, some people could use some chill lol

This year and last year were/are our 2 best years to win it. After this season we've got to gut our depth.
We're going to be a worse overall team for the next few years, until at least Seguins contract comes off the books.

We don't have the cap space to get any of the good RDs available this year in UFA and it's a small list that's going to lead to bidding wars with all the teams have buckets of capspace, there's very few intriguing options that might excel with a bigger role, like say Perbix.
We still need to find a sucker to take Dumba off our hands too.
and the trade market for RD's isn't very appealing (rumor was maybe Dobson) but they don't have a need for Robertson, which is our only (and unfortunately likely) moveable asset with the value to land such a player.
Next year we should still be a PO team, but we likely see a step back

Yup, I’m worried that after this season the depth will be gone unless they trade Robertson (which I really don’t want to at the moment). Benn will be more useless next season. Who knows if Seguin will be healthy enough.. We could lose Duchene who is one of our only decent puck movers on the team.

I’d say give Blumel a decent shot in the top 9. Not going to make up for Duchene and Granlund gone though.

Blumel is a UFA, don't think he's coming back.

I never would have guessed that I'd miss Nils as much as I do. We need that little f***er back.

At least he can move the puck unlike the statues that we currently have on the right side.
nah, he'd be eating scratches this time of year to Dumba, just like last year until Jani got injured.
Deboer has an irrational hatred for the guy

Colorado also dominated those games. And have been outshooting every team they play. We are getting great goaltending right now
Wait so even when Colorado dominates Nashville and Calgary they still lose? They must suck even more than I pretended to believe earlier!

Honestly it’s easy to infer whatever you want from sport stats. We used to outshoot teams and lose a f***ing lot many years ago. I’m just saying it’s worth trying to enjoy the good times a bit.

I enjoy most games we win (some are tough to enjoy when they’re playing poorly all game). I don’t mind losses, they’re not going to win 82 games. Just wish I could see more effort from them in the past couple or months. Really hoping they turn it around come playoff time.
