The biggest issue here is hubris.

The biggest issue is it makes absolutely no sense from a hockey standpoint if you're trying to ice your best lineup to win a game. It's less about Boll playing as it is about Dano being scratched. If it's Boll replacing Morin, then the outcry might be one person.

Haha, everybody want to keep telling me he's not important to the team? I don't think Morin should be playing over Dano, however, like I mentioned yesterday, Dano has looked a bit lost at times, even though he's looked great at times too, he's young and it doesn't hurt to watch one from above against a rough team like the Islanders. Like I mentioned yesterday, I could see Dano starting in Cleveland next year if we have a healthy lineup

I agree. Especially if Dano has a meh camp. I would bet on him being in Columbus, but I could see a scenario where he isn't as well. Same with Wennberg, although I think he's safer because of Letestu's eventual departing.

That's just idiotic.

If Dano is healthy and not playing, Richards is a moron.

Maybe it's to rest Dano. I mean, despite playing in the KHL previously this has been a long season for the rookie.

Also I think Richards is a fan of giving players "perspective" whatever that means.

From Puckrakers:

The Dano scratch is a bit of a surprise. In his last 10 games, he has 3-6-9 and a plus-8 rating.

"I like the way Jeremy Morin has played, and it's a chance for him to go up and play with Wennberg and Hartnell," Richards said. "And it’s a chance for a young player … you know, you can learn a lot by watching.

"It’s a chance for him to sit and watch. He worked hard today, he’ll have a day of practice tomorrow and we’ll see about Saturday. To me, it’s part of the process."

So there's that, I suppose.

Just proves he's a moron. Dano is a HUGE reason we are on this streak. I know we need to see Morin(after all it's not like we have all of next season to see him), but there were other options this late in the season.

I've watched a lot of hockey, put me in, Todd. :sarcasm:

That's just a load of B.S. The company line earlier in the year was they'd rather have the kids playing in Springfield than sitting or rotating up here. Can't have it both ways. Pick one, HCTR/JK/JD. Get on the same page.

To be fair, we should give Morin a look in the top 9. We need to know what we've got in him heading into the offseason.

They scouted and liked him enough to trade for him. He's played 22 games here. Not really going to find out much these last 6 that they don't already know.

Has anyone blamed the medical staff yet? When that happens, we will have the terrible trifecta of HCTR, Boll, and the medical staff.

*Awaiting Portzline to tweet about Dano not being a 'healthy' scratch but a scratch due to injury*.

Is it too late to tell everyone to not **** themselves over a scratch in a meaningless game?

He's going to be a really good player, but you can see him getting frustrated at times because he's not quite there yet, this is the right move by Richards for the long term development of Dano, he did it with RyJo as well. There is no need to rush the kid to the NHL full time and have him lose his confidence, ala Rusty Klesla. So if we don't make any trades and we are completely healthy, I would expect him to start the season in the AHL and that's OK.

And for everyone comparing his stats to Boll, you're missing the point, not surprising, it's not about Boll vs. Dano, it's Dano vs. Morin. We need Boll in this type of game, NYI play very physical and tend to take runs at guys. Funny how the other team is worried about Boll, the other teams fans are worried about Boll, our coaching staff feels he's an important part of the team, management feels he's important, yet everyone on the interwebs, save for a few, think they know better...

Is it too late to not warn people to not make posts making it sound liking people not pleased about this decision are unjustified in their opinion?

Of all the silly reasons to make a sweeping judgement on the fan base you are moderating.

I once blamed Tyler Wright for opting to partake in that fundraising marathon instead of attending the prospects camp. I also blame "Eye in the Sky" Dan Hinote for a lot of things I'm sure he has no control over.

You. Play. To. Win. The. Game.

This move doesn't signal to 99% of the people with common sense that HCTR/JK/JD/whoever made this decision is trying to win the game.

For a season with no playoffs, one of the few reasons to follow the team and go to the games is to see the development of the young guys.

HCTR, for better or worse, will be the coach next season. If he's making questionable at best decisions now, what's he going to decide to do next year when the playoffs are hopefully in view?

This actually hurts the team for the game. It disrupts the "rolling four lines" combination that has worked during the streak. Putting Morin in for Dano weakens that line. And putting Boll in for Morin weakens the fourth line.

We need some enforcer capability for this game ??? Tell Prout to pounce on any Isles that gets out of line. Prout is a better enforcer than Boll. He actually wins fights.

What if Dano feels slighted by this scratch and decides to hold it against the team when discussing his next contract in 2 years?

(Am I doing this right?)
