That was the worst goalie interference call I have seen all season. Flames got jobbed.

They have to make that rule less subjective.

There have been worse. I saw one where the players jersey brushed the glove of the goalie and they overturned it.

I think there's an argument to be made and so long as the rule remains as subjective as it is, then there will be calls like this. The coach's challenge just amplifies the issue.

I think it was just the old fashion man in the crease called on the guy at the top of the crease.

It could be, the rule is pretty plain.

If an attacking player establishes a significant position within the goal crease, so as to obstruct the goalkeeper's vision and impair his ability to defend his goal, and a goal is scored, the goal will be disallowed.

(NOTE 6)For this purpose, a player "establishes a significant position within the crease" when, in the Referee's judgment, his body, or a substantial portion thereof, is within the goal crease for more than an instantaneous period of time.

The key word is "inside." Quick never was outside the crease, thus no incidental contact allowed. If Quick were outside the crease, then he could possibly be interfered with.
