The Bruins did not play a clean game on Thursday against Dallas.

They fumbled pucks. They did not execute clean breakouts. In the first period, the Stars took advantage of slack play in the neutral zone to accumulate off-the-rush looks on Tuukka Rask. The Stars recorded more shots on net than the Bruins, only the second time in the last 11 games the Black and Gold have allowed more than they’ve landed.

If all that results in a 2-0 shutout at TD Garden, there is little to complain about for a team fighting to make the playoffs.

“If you’re not in your spot or working to your spot to create a passing lane or an easy play up the wall or in the middle, that can make life difficult,†Cassidy said. “I’m not going to just put it on the D. Because the easiest thing to say is, ‘Well, we didn’t break the puck out.’ Yeah, we missed some easy options early. When we overlook our first option, we get ourselves in trouble. I think that was an issue at times. But at other times, I thought we were leaving the zone early when we needed to be there for low support.â€

Coaches are always looking for things to correct. Cassidy will address breakouts in practice on Friday to ensure similar flareups don’t take place again on Saturday against Florida.

A win is a win is a win at this time of the year. Somehow almost all the teams around us are winning and feels like everyone is on a 7 game win streak.

And that pass from Pasta, :amazed:

Keep the eye on the prize, stay looking ahead and just keep winning.

good win.
Keep those 2 points coming.

Start Rask tomorrow and secure another 2.
Then worry about Chicago game Sunday.
Hopefully steal a point with Dobby.

Final week is gonna be stressful

I missed most of the second snoozing in place on the couch. Seems like I didn't miss much.

could have snoozed for the 3rd too, was an ugly game and not the sharpest performance by the Bruins. Vs a good team, our boys would have been fishing pucks out of the net all night but they managed to snag 2pts with Tuukka making the saves when he needed to so that`s all that matters

those bad teams usually bring on bad habits.

big two points at this time of the year. With the way Ottawa is playing we might actually be able to look up and not just worry about what's behind us if we can string together a few W's.

Sens are now the ony team with a negative GF - GA number currently occupying a PO position. Bolts are the only team with a positive number currently not in a PO position. An omen for what to come perhaps?

weird, I only caught the 3rd period of the Sens/Wild game and by that point the Wild were already up by a bunch so might not be the best way to judge a team but man did the Sens look awful in the 3rd

Not a sharp game for either team. A win is a win no matter how it comes about. Good teams find ways to win when they are not at there best. In the end, they got the job done.

Rask was terrific and a big contributor for the win. He takes far too much flak for all he has done for the Bruins. No player can be perfect form night to night let alone from start to finish. One blip in a given game and the knives come out. Many fans need to be reminded of the old adage that you don't know what you've got till it's gone.

With the all important points deposited in the bank time to turn the focus to a repeat of that on Saturday.

I'd play Rask in every game the rest of the way.

Points are at a premium.

Me staying awake during these games is also at a premium.

Khudobin likely will start the Florida game on Saturday to give Tuukka a little rest before facing the Blackhawks. It is the last back to back so if they are going to use him it will be then.

I laugh when people complain about late starting times. In 1976 the Bruins had first round playoff games that started at 11 PM  Bruins played the Kings in the first round in both 1976 and 1977. It was a weird time as the Adams division consisted of Boston, Toronto, Buffalo and OAKLAND but playoffs were done with a 1-12 seeding with the Top 4 teams getting a bye and then teams were reseeded 1-8.

ugh-
I would not want that.
I don't think a 50 save performance from Rask will make a difference Sunday.
I really think we should go with Rask Saturday and get the sure 2pts.

Especially seeing how he's coming off a SO

Cassidy is hinting that Sweeney (Cam) will make the call....not him.

“I have a tough time believing we won’t use both of them this weekend,†said Cassidy, referring to Rask and backup Anton Khudobin, the latter of whom has won four of his last five starts. “But I don’t want to paint myself in a corner. I just believe they will both see the crease this weekend.â€

Cassidy did not dismiss the idea of having Rask skip the Florida game and fly to Chicago ahead of the team, likely after Friday’s workout. In theory, it would allow the 30-year-old tender added rest ahead of the Blackhawks matchup.

“I guess if that was his start, management would have to make that decision,’’ said Cassidy, the Bruins then needing to recall one of their AHL tenders. “On the flip side, if he’s not going to play [in Chicago], would we leave him behind? So there is always that part of it, too. I am sure those things will be open to discussion. If he is 100 percent healthy, I don’t know that you need to do either, but . . . there’s an idea, we’ll run it by the boss.â€

Rask should be in Saturday. I mean, the game against the Hawks is a b2b matinee.

Just secure the 2 points in the Panthers game and go from there.

Just my two cents, maybe I'm old school, but I firmly believe you should always start a goaltender the game after he posts a shut-out.

Rask on Saturday

Khudobin on Sunday

Then Rask the rest of the way.

Defense was a turnover machine. Win is on Rask. He was sensational. Loved his calm movement, challenging shooters by coming out, was on his angles and didn't allow many second chances

I'd like to think that they aren't micro-managing Cassidy's personnel decisions like that- it could be read as management is involved because of the possibility of needing to recall Zane or Subban to give Tuuka the Chicago trip off if they feel that is needed. I really don't like the idea that Cam is selecting the game day rosters- if he is, then his ass needs to be behind the bench. If he isn't willing to get back there (and he wasn't by all accounts), then he ought to just go cut some ribbons and gladhand some sponsors somewhere.:shakehead

If they don't make it - Papa Jacobs' head will explode. They are now selling playoff tickets to the public which means the possibility of giving refunds....again.

My sense is Cam would take the fall this time and a new president would then decide the fate of the GM who in turn decides on the coach.

Cam is under the most pressure because where could he find another job like he has now?

I do think they will make it in however.
