GDT: Game 76: Sharks vs. Kraken 7:00pm NBCSCA

Still calling Ferraro a borderline NHLer is wild to me.
Hes a functional bottom pairing on a reasonable team. No better...

Thats why they couldnt trade him. His salary is reasonable. Age is good. There should have been a solid market for him, but there wasnt. You know grier woulda dealt him for a 2nd or better, maybe even a 3rd. So the fact that they kept him tells you that he is a borderline NHLer for a respectable team.

I am 100% Ferraro was never on the trade block.

the PP performance this last while has been seriously job-threatening for the PP coach
Their PP doesnt move. Incredibly stagnant. You want the good ones, they are constantly moving and attacking the net. The sharks just play catch around the perimeter, until they fumble.

It also hurts when you have literally ZERO defensemen who belong in your top 4. having a shot like burns' on the point makes all the difference. Even walman helped a fair amount. Now, there is no threat to score or create from the blueline. You know wennberg aint gunna hit a corner fro, the blueline.

walman was very good working the PP. the 5 forward PP is terrible.

I think he was and they wanted a 1st or a 2nd and a good player which no one was going to give.
I think Edmonton came after Walman early and after Ceci was already traded Grier didn’t want to offload all three. I think he intends to trade him for a big return with retention next deadline.

That would make less than no sense. Ferraro is gone after next year anyways. Walman is way better and he had another year left. Zetterlund is also more valuable as an RFA. Yet they were dealt.

I strongly disagree. I think he was on the block but they got no real offers and he wasnt gunna deal him for a 5th rounder. The market for a guy with 17 pts and a -26 is limited.

There’s so much in your post I wanna argue, but I won’t. If that’s what you think then that’s what you think.

I mean, you might be right, but all the new articles pointed to the opposite. If they get a good return next deadline, then cool. I doubt it. I think his value is akin to Luke kunin or so. late round pick, and thats why hes still here.

Also, I am hoping that this summer, grier goes shopping and creates a respectable team next year. Not necessarily playoffs, but not dead last again.

Of course, I have ZERO faith in grier's ability to add NHL talent. So far this season, the players and prospects he got in trade are Giles, Ostapchuk, Kovalenko, Desharnais, Gregor, and Liljgren. That list speaks for itself. hes shown he can trade away talent extremely well, but adding it and creating a competitive team is where you see real GM skill.

I mean this respectfully but you're insane if you think that.

YEah, I'm really questioning his ability to target lotto tickets as he's been basically shutout from finding decent talent for less than nothing. Maybe Emberson. I don't include Walman because I doubt Grier would have taken him without the 2nd attached. I do worry about his ability to find viable complementary pieces when they're ready to take the next step.
