I think it's the other way around. He's gripping the stick, he's trying to carry the whole team and whole line. He looks like he's spinning his wheels, and forcing it, not like he's checked out.I hope not?
He hasn't had a good week at least and the last game might have been one of his worst.

You are right that last game was very poor and he's been struggling for about 10 now. But considering he's 18 at the end of a difficult first season where he surpassed even our lofty hopes and expectations, I think we can give him a pass.
I don’t get it with Kovalenko. By looks, he should be in the lineup over even someone like Grundstrom or Gregor. But he certainly hasn’t been good enough to where if he is causing internal issues, he’s not worth waiting to figure it out. I just hope there’s still some trade value to be salvaged. If Kovalenko wasn't already gone from this team, talking to Sheng about it certainly won't help things.
Looking at the lineup, I just can't believe we can put together a competitive game... yet the guys have been surprisingly close in these last few. Moneypuck puts us at 40% to win, which is about as good as it gets for us. We've been competitive at home and on the weekends in front of bigger crowds. I like all the 4-3 predictions but I'm gonna distrust my gut and go with...
3-1 Sharks.
Celly, Eklund, Toff.
Kakko.
Hubby and I are going to the game. Mixed feelings about the outcome. Life as a Shark fan.![]()
I feel like since Kovalenko got injured, he hasn't gotten back into the lineup on a consistent-enough basis to really get his rhythm back (I can't recall if he got re-injured or just kept getting yanked from the lineup).I don’t get it with Kovalenko. Ostapchuk sucks, Kovalenko will catch on with another NHL team if he leaves San Jose....I feel like since Kovalenko got injured, he hasn't gotten back into the lineup on a consistent-enough basis to really get his rhythm back (I can't recall if he got re-injured or just kept getting yanked from the lineup).
He was playing on shit lines after the Four Nations break, lines where nobody is producing, and yeah, maybe if he's in the bottom six they want him to play a certain style, but I have some sympathy for someone who sort of still needs to learn to play that kind of game and is struggling to come to grips with it. He definitely hasn't played worse than a number of other guys who have continued to play.
Hell, I'd just like him to get out there on a line with Ostapchuk so the new kid gets a chance to play alongside someone who might be able to do something in the attacking zone, because honestly, it feels like almost a foregone conclusion that Kovalenko is gone—that ship has sailed, but why must Ostapchuk continue to suffer?
