GDT: Game 76: Red Wings vs cats 5:30 pm et 4/6/25

wow they won, barely. this was a pathetic win for the wings over a shit roster for cats. they have no chance of making the playoffs, car shit the bed in their game and fla has no one on the ice.
Looking at all the roster shifts lately , I'm not really sure the playoffs have been an urgent priority. I get the feeling it's been more about seeing what the kids can do. The Todd has not been conservative with his approach.

What changed with this team and McClellan? We were crushing teams winning in Jan Feb now we're just gettin by winning. Did McClellan change something?
Power play got colder, Raymond and Larkin slowed. Some rookies struggling at the tail end. Seider having some off games. Goaltending was goofy for a good long while and was actually losing us some games. PK was ass still.

Probably. But it's hockey. Who knows. Beat the Canadiens Tuesday and all of a sudden they're in it.

They're not getting better than the 10th-11th pick now anyways. Might as well root for your team.
If they lose Tuesday and are 8 back ppl will still convince themselves they have a chance. They could have had 7-9 but your being too generous they’ll likely end up with pick 14-15

They’re the buffalo sabres now , winning games when they’re meaningless

If Montreal loses tonight and the Wings beat them Tuesday, they are two points back with a game in hand. How is that not still in it? Montreal also plays the Sens the game after the Wings, and the Sens have been great in the second half of this season. Far from over.

Next time, don't fool around with the empty netter. Not the time in the season to worry about your numbers.

Even when they win, they find ways to infuriate. That ended way to close than it should have.

The powerplay getting cold and Talbot having a dip was the reason. They weren't doing anything all season but riding the powerplay and Talbot. Much like in prior seasons with some other goalie (insert Lyon, Husso, etc.) Journeymen goalies aren't the answer long-term and you need to play five on five. Can't just rely on a powerplay, especially when your penalty kill is even worse.

God the last time we won two in a row was Feb 23rd and Feb 25th.

Nashville plays like their first good game of the entire season, Montreal plays like ass, Nashville still down a goal with 10 minutes left. Hockey, gotta love it.

Those back to back losses against Habs felt quite season defining at the time.

Had no idea Habs would be this good though.

You'd prefer that NHL hockey players just stood around on the ice watching the other team pepper their goalie to the tune of a 26-0 loss?

Also, posters are not completely stupid ... they realize a loss to Montreal and it's over.

I liked you a lot better when you weren't around.
