GDT: Game 76: Red Wings vs cats 5:30 pm et 4/6/25

Yes, I suspect you are right. Larkin is probably nursing some kind on injury.

I also think he has been through a lot these past 5 years, or so. I don't wish to comment on his private life as much, but the comment he made a couple of years a go when Wings traded Bertuzzi stuck with me, and I am paraphrasing : ”It is upsetting to be where we are at the trade deadline and seeing our teammates and friends being traded elsewhere again...” For the record, I don't think there is anything wrong with Larkin's comment. But when he said it, I realized how much of a burden this was for him. Todd made a comment to that extent when he was hired as well. Like it is all on Larkins shoulders, must be exhausting.
If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. I understand it probably sucks but these guys need to know the way forward through that sort of adversity. When shit get tough, you need to find ways through it. I don't know if Larkin is that guy. He seems down and sad and like he's carrying a great weight, as you say. But at the end of the day, you're playing the greatest game for millions of dollars being cheered on by the best fans in the world.

Completely agree and this is what I’ve been saying. Nobody’s saying Larkin doesn’t care. But if being captain is such a massive weight on his shoulders he’s unlikely to be the right guy for the job.

You make a good argument. I don't have a rebuttal to that.
