GDT: Game 76: Red Wings vs cats 5:30 pm et 4/6/25

Motte was also suppose to really help there. Whoops.

I remember on one replay they were in the diamond formation but were less mobile than bubble hockey figures. Is standing around really part of the pk strategy?

I'd rather they at least be really aggressive and get burned than stand there making it easy for the PP team to pass around you.

I dont' know what you guys are seeing in this draft - losing isn't going to make a difference anymore, we're too far to get Misa/Schaefer, and Caleb Desnoyers is not turning this team into a contender. This draft isn't the one with a Michkov or Demidov that you can get at 7th
It is relative to the level of competition. Desnoyers is a pretty sure 2nd liner. The forwards left at #13 for example are either 3rd liners with upside or potential 2nd liners who have serious injury concerns. Sure, you can hit even at #13, but the likelihood of a top6 player is just lower.

In the interest of fairness: I am firmly on team tank.

Maybe they shouldn’t have played like garbage those past game and cost us the playoffs. Deep down at this point you don’t honestly believe we have a shot at the playoffs. If we were down 4-0 I wouldn’t care if we scored 😂

We had a legit shot at 6-8 like a week ago now it’s likely 14 and another 3rd liner ... call me a horrible fan I don’t care , those extra few wins cost us Leonard/michkov ... hope to god I’m wrong on danielson and whoever this years pick will be
i don't care if it blows a chance at the 1st overall pick, when i see my team score a goal it gets me pumped up. it's an involuntary response, because i love my team

as a matter of fact i do believe we're still in it. we're up 2-0, canadiens are down 2-0. if we can beat a depleted florida twice and a montreal team playing their third game in four days, we'll head into the weekend tied for the final wildcard with 4 remaining games each. anything can still happen

But we don’t need a 2nd liner. We need all-star , superstar talent. A 2nd liner replacing 60pt Kane keeps us exactly where we are now.

Larkin definitely has some nagging injury. Stride is not the same.

Yes, I suspect you are right. Larkin is probably nursing some kind on injury.

I also think he has been through a lot these past 5 years, or so. I don't wish to comment on his private life as much, but the comment he made a couple of years a go when Wings traded Bertuzzi stuck with me, and I am paraphrasing : ”It is upsetting to be where we are at the trade deadline and seeing our teammates and friends being traded elsewhere again...” For the record, I don't think there is anything wrong with Larkin's comment. But when he said it, I realized how much of a burden this was for him. Todd made a comment to that extent when he was hired as well. Like it is all on Larkins shoulders, must be exhausting.

Nobody said that you need to keep the player forever. I am not opposed to dealing someone like Desnoyers along with other pieces that get you your all-star. Although that kinda talent rarely comes available. But the more good assets, the higher the chance of being in position to acquire the talent you want.
