Like everything tank this season, it's complex and conflicting for me. I also come from a generation that was probably less aware of how awful those late 70s Habs teams were to play against and how they owned the Bruins. I lived in So Cal from 1975-1980 and barely saw the Bruins play unless it was against the Kings which was just about the only hockey I could watch on the local station. Thus, my Hab hate is probably not quite as strong as it is for those a few years older, and also those who were local in those brutal years. Sorry for the mini-life story, but I say all that to say that while I hate the Habs, my desire for the Bruins to be a great team again, part of which means getting as good a draft pick this year as possible, trumps the necessity of beating Montreal. I mean, I won't cry if the Bruins win, and I will enjoy it, but a bigger part of me hopes they lose so the tank can lock in that top 5 pick as soon as possible.

Hidden message?

I honestly think the Habs hate at this point is ridiculous.

I started following the Bruins pre-Orr. 1971 was the peak of Habs hate for me. The late 70's teams didn't just own the Bruins, they owned everyone. Those Montreal teams were just that good.

The last 15-20 years? What's to hate.

Tonight, go Habs go!

It is disgraceful to root for the Habs. You’re a Treasonweasel.
We're not rooting for the Habs to win. We're not all decked out in Montreal jerseys waiving pom poms, we're just hoping the Bruins stay where they are in the standings. They beat the habs, so what? What's the gain there? They move out of the top 4 overall pick and jump to the 6 overall pick.

It’s the teams fighting for a playoff spot that are more dangerous than teams like the Caps that are a lock for the playoffs. So this could be an ugly game.

Give me the best chance at a franchise altering player for the next 15 years over a useless win over a team I haven't cared about since Obama was in office.
It's a no brainer.

Still, some drama would be nice. Make the Montreal faithful sweat a little bit. Maybe a fight or four. Borderline hits. Something.

Of paramount importance; a regulation loss

Will watch the First and Second period.
Then I'm switching to the World Curling Championship.
Likely will be more entertaining 😜

The NHL would be better if Montreal were a contender. Nothing beats watching a game in Montreal. It is not a corporate fanbase like Toronto.
I agree.
Plus there's a strong chance the Habs will be playing the figLeafs in the first round.
Montreal have some hitters on their team and they do not care if it's Matthews, Marner or whoever.

Start hitting them...they disappear. Plus cry😭
