GDT: Game 75: Red Wings vs canes 7:00 pm et 4/4/25

Have a terrible feeling that they'll win out but miss by like a point.
I mean at least it means they are competing until the end.

I know the odds aren’t great, but Montreal losing tomorrow to Philly would really make things interesting.

Florida last couple of seasons had strong finish, not this season. They lost last 3 games
Ya but we suck against Florida lately and you better believe they'll be bringing their A game against us after losing 3 in a row. Like I said it's not impossible. Just not likely (in addition to Habs losing a game against their 2 next easy oppenents).

We also suck against Carolina and Boston

As long as Larkin is playing the way he did the past 10-15 games, there is no chance this team wins all the upcoming games.

Unfortunately you’re likely right…Not sure if it’s injuries, or maybe McClellan had begun a system similar to what Lalonde had employed, but this team has been the polar opposite since the 4 Nations Tournament.

What brief moment we had of competent NHL caliber hockey has been replaced with what we’ve had to endure these past several plus seasons.

I don’t think it has anything to do with system. I think they’ve gotten worse goaltending and had a tougher schedule. They have had a handful of games where I’ve thought they deserved a better fate than they got.

That could be, but to me they’ve regressed to where they appear clueless and/or hapless.

Also Copp was injured around the time the slide started, so the center depth was lacking. Fortunately Kasper is showing signs of being a good top 6 center, but Larkin is playing like he's nursing some sort of injury.

The good news is the center depth is finally starting to develop. If Copp and Larkin were healthy and you have the emergence in Kasper, we'd be firing along close to what we were doing before the 4 Nations tournament.

Can't believe the Bruins are last in the East. I've waited so long for this to happen, and yet I am not as excited as I thought I would be
I was afraid this would happen after we traded the Bruins pick for debrincat which is why I didn’t like the deal at the time. Bruins we’re a 1 of behind us and now have the 4th best odds. They did a perfect job, we should have done the same rather than get pick 12 . Is what it is

I don't understand why you were afraid to pay pick 25 for DeBrincat?

If we had four nations Larkin we would be in the playoffs, but we got he went all out in four nations and obviously hurt Larkin. I mean I could say the same for Raymond, if he was at the pace before four nations that's playoffs.

Now that we know it’s pick 25 obviously the move was a steal. We didnt know that at the time , I thought with centers being gone I thought they might be a bottom 10 team. Happened a few yrs later than I thought

I only caught half the game so just watched the highlights. that was quite the saucer pass by Larkin to DeBrincat on what ended up Benny's goal.

And holy Holl, in contradiction of my previous statement about the talent difference between the AHL and NHL, could an AHL Dman really be any worse than Holl?

An AHL guy would probably be playing conservative and not make that awful turnover Holl did on the first Canes goal.

But why does Larkin appear to be nursing an injury every fricking year around this time?

How are you connecting that trade to this year? That pick was not for this upcoming draft. The Dcat trade was a win. We never had the Bruins pick this year. We get it, you prefer the team to crash and burn for lottery luck

Yes I’m aware the bruins pick isn’t from this draft. I said I was afraid the bruins would be a bottom 10 team with that pick we traded after Bergeron and krejci left. They’re downfall happened a few yrs later than I expected
