GDT: GAME 75 | Lightning @ Senators | Get Back on Track Edition | Thu Apr 3 2025, 7PM | RDS2, TSN5

Scored first and never let Tampa back into it, playing 3/4 of the game with the lead in full control. Calm and collected.
Tampa has a decent up-and-coming team, they tried their best but they just don't have it and can't finish. Maybe next year. Really liked that #86 guy. He has potential.

This game could have easily been 5-2 win for Tampa. A few millimetres here or there, and we end up with way more pucks in the back of our net. Hard to say the same for Sens. Still, a win is a win, and against a good team too.
The same can be said for the Sabres game, a few millimetres here or there, and we end up winning 6-4 against the Sabres. Sometimes you lose games you deserved a win in and vice versa.

Guy who says it's ugly win don't take into consideration that tampa was chasing the game from the 1st period and had way more PP then us a lot of no call for us.Ulmark yes bailed us out many as does Vaslevsky for Tampa.

Tampa is probably the best team in the east have have goal differentiel of +77 for f***in sake. Tampa showed effort all night they were trying to win this one as they are fighting for 1st spot or home advantage.

Solid effort by the team missing some key players too. While some players didnt have great game the one that did had a great one aka 3rd line and Ullmark they are both part of the team 😂😂.

Decent game, Ullmark needed to come up strong after the first goal against. He's been having trouble with his rebounds lately, maybe he has new pads / gear.

We're going to have problems going forward if we can't even play our 4th line at home against other 4th lines.

As a team, score effect seems to be even more pronounced with us. We really do ratchet back the forcheck to almost nothing when leading in the third, so chances for/against doesn't really tell the full story.

Lightning got 5 shots 5v5 in the 3rd, most of their xGF came on special teams and with the goalie pulled. Obviously, that PP giving up two prime chances was terrible, and our PK always seems to scare me, but 5v5 we were pretty good about reducing their chances, it just felt bad because we didn't even try for any of our own most of the period.

What a nail-biter in the end. The goalie did what he had to do. After that bad game two night before against the worst team, this was a nice win for the team without their captain.
This and if ullmark plays like this in the playoffs we will be a force for Toronto

Did the lightning have a shot in the third until our powerplay?
They had three shot attempts, no shots, but the Powerplay was only about 5 mins into the period.

They didn't get another shot until about 7 and a half mins left in the game,

I was a very tidy 3rd period until the penalty on Batherson (that lazy PP aside)

Ironically our own pp is was turned the momentum… in…their favor?

I was anticipating your pros and cons about the game
Aight here it is

Good.
Ullmark but the goal was bad
Greig. On his way to proving me very wrong still handles the puck like a grenade tho but great third liner
Gaudette?? Was not bad
Crookshank. He’s good no two ways about.
I thought kleven and matinpalo were both good last night.
That’s suffocating 5v5 defence in the third from pre 4 nations was back and better than it was last couple weeks I think.
The pk kinda worked

Bad:
The powerplay fire the coach
Stutzle I thought was bad
Cozens might have been the worst player on the ice. Lifeless. Unengaged. Slow to pretty much every spot and losing basically every battle
I did not like chabot last night.

They still didn't generate much after our PP, and we actually closed out the PP alright after the sloppy start. They got 2 shots in the next 8 mins, it was the Penalty to Batherson that made the stats sheet look awful and gave them a ton of energy which they carried into the pulled goalie situation.

I agree with most of this, on the goal, rebounds are going to happen, the shot hit him in the shoulder, it's a very hard to control rebound there, and he didn't have much time to clear it though he tried, the real culprit there was the dump in, or Kleven failing to tie up Hagel.

The PP did score, and actually looked good once they were set up, execution on the entry was the issue, not the coaching imo,

To the bad, I'd add our slow start defensively, we were letting them hit our zone with speed and skate by guys for chances in the 1st, we eventually adjusted, so that's a pro I guess, but it could have been ugly early.

Happy to have been wrong

But we looked like an AHL team for most of the game, Ullmark is the only reason we won.

Thank the refs for being shit at their job on our first goal, that was a terrible missed call that went in our favour

It was a pretty obvious dive, not a missed call, the guy got nudged with incidental contact and laid out on the ice like he'd been shot for the remainder of the play, they got what they deserved there. Amadio never changed his line which was established well before the contact, Bjorkstrand got up off the ice from a previous puck battle, and took a stride into Amadio's path towards the play he was trying to support. If that's interference, you'd have a penalty every two mins and guys would start flopping around like it's soccer (sorry soccer fans).

Gaudette had 54 seconds TOI at even strength in the 3rd period. Green gives him opportunities on PP2 now which looks pretty weak up front ..
Giroux, Perron, Zetturlund, Gaudette... Hard to imagine Pinto and Amadio can't get a sniff there for whatever reason. They led the team at iCF and ixG at 5v5

Crookshank had 9 seconds total in the 3rd.

4th line could be better with Cousins and faster grittier Center. Our depth as an org is horrid .. I can't believe they think they can't improve on Gaudette at 4C.

The Cozens line can be better and they'll need to be. Cozens 3:33 etoi in the 3rd. Perron 2:48 etoi vs Batherson 5:01 and Batherson sat for 2 on the penalty

Greig is one of a the few who play in all situations led the forwards in TOI ; total, even, pp, sh
