GDT: Game 74: Sharks @ Ducks 7:00pm NBCSCA

Stop creating a strawman.

Zetterlund being a better player than Ostapchuk isn't an outlandish take. If Zetterlund was traded for just a 2nd round pick, I'd be fine. Instead, SHarks added a 4th to get Ostapchuk.

Again, Ostapchuk had 52 NHL games prior to coming to the Sharks. He wasn't useful then either.
What part of "he's 21 years old and shouldn't have been playing in the NHL this season" do you not understand?

Lol what a joke. He's already proven to be a good AHL player. There will always be a place in the NHL for a big physical center who can drop the gloves even if it's as a 4C or extra forward. Zetterlund was not gonna fetch more than this if we waited until the offseason to trade him without a contract in place.
Why hasnt he dropped the gloves more than once with the Sharks? I'd be ok with the player you describe but Ostapchuk isnt it

Also, preferring a 4th round pick to Ostapchuk just shows you have no idea how to properly value draft picks.

You'd seriously rather have a 4th round pick than Ostapchuk?

I've seen enough to know he will not be a regular nhl'er, waste of roster space bring up Ethan Cardwell
Ostapchuk is almost a year younger than Cardwell. Way too early to write him off as a NHLer. Plenty of useful bottom six forwards on Cup winners don't become NHL regulars until they're 23 or 24.

People losing their shit
This team was destined for bottom 3, but somehow we are all still extremely angry, angsty, surprised, and frenetically pinning blame on any and every 2nd, 3rd, 4th line player, and of course coach.

If only we set the right lines, had a better system, and our team of half-AHLers played like top line NHLers, maybe we wouldn't be a bad team any more!

From my point of view, this season is a win:
- Celebrini is legit, even though he seems to be hitting the end of season wall + has little help
- Smith showed massive flashes, even though he has a long way to go to even be a 0.8ppg player
- Eklund took a necessary step and will either be a core piece or a big trade piece
- Mukh has been our best D for the past month and could solidify as an actual middle pair guy on a good team
- our prospects nearly all had successful seasons, including the most important ones of all, Askarov and Dickinson (and Cherny)

Who gives a shit if we gave up a 3-1 lead in the first in game 74? Who gives a shit if Ostapchuk looks bad and Goodrow sucks? At least we played a very solid 2nd. Hopefully the kids get a point and we lose to the Oilers on Thursday.

If you could predict player futures with certainty after 6 and a half games then why are you wasting your time on a hockey message board instead of getting paid big bucks by an NHL club?

I'm never more suspicious of someone's arguments than when they present them as unimpeachable.

You: Ostaphuck is good but he shouldn't be playing NHL.

You when someone suggests he should be in the AHL: But Ostapchuk is younger!

Which is it? FFS.
