Honestly, I'm in the other camp. I feel like by having one AHL player on every pair we've essentially guaranteed that we never have a functional defense on the ice. Seider is clearly struggling to carry Chiarot. Edvinsson has clearly been struggling to carry his rotating cast of options. AlJo has cooled off and was always the guy being carried. Now he has to carry Petry. You have free access to our goalie if you just attack the weak side. We have three functional defenseman and so can make one good pair. We've picked one of the configurations with 0 good pairs.

Its less then ideal, but Chia-Pet and Gus-Holl were absolute disaster pairings.
