Post-Game Talk: GAME 74 - Eight Losses in a row - Detroit 2 BRUINS 1

Watched more of this game than I should.
Bruins did plenty of skating, I'll give them that.
Actual scoring talent is non existent except for Geekie and Pasta.

As for Lysell....do they have larger nets in the AHL or in Sweden?
Like...'5x8'?

That was a better effort than the last few at least. Competed well enough, just don't have the horses on offense at the moment. Pasta and Geekie keep battling. Swayman let in a softie but was otherwise solid so I'll count that as an acceptable performance from him at this point. I expected more response from Zadorov than we got following Detroit's antics in the 1st. The shove he gave Berggren was more counter-productive than anything. Not much else to talk about.

Let's see if they can lift a bit at home. They'll need to not to get completely blown out by the Caps.

my quick research | NHL Records

is this the 2nd worst losing streak in team history?? Quite the accomplishment
3 more to get the record...

Set in their inaugural season (over 100 years ago)...

With no draft of any sort, just with whatever players they could scrounge.

And since that streak ended they've played

6933 regular season games and 702 playoff games (7335 games total)

I want them to hurt Montreal's playoff chances by a win there on Thursday

They have a home and home with New Jersey, who seems locked into M3, games at Pittsburgh, Buffalo, and Poutineville.

At home, they also have Washington, Carolina, and Chicago.

They CAN'T wind up losing 16 in a row, but they could, and that saddens me.

Red Wings fan here…Not sure what surprises me more; the Red Wings 9th season of missing the playoffs (well unless a miracle happens), or the sudden fall from grace for the Bruins?

That'd be nice. Montreal also has to deal with a home & home against Florida before playing Boston on Thursday.

Watched the game to get out of watching some overly dramatic Netflix series (Adolescence) with the wife ..... so it was a win in my books...wish we would have picked DeBrincat all those years ago when we had a chance...sure turned out to be one hell of a little player

We got a great shot at 4 OA but I’m not greedy so just give me 5. We get that we have a couple of high end centers or at worst forwards to select.

Four would be great as Hagens could be there as well.

If Sweeney allows McAvoy to play with his shoulder issues being wonky I……..

Next game Monday ~ just 2 more weeks and hopefully all great spring and summer
Next game is against the Caps. Ovi could feast on us.

In the end I really don't care who the playoff teams will be this year.

My concern is how long it will take to get back into the playoff mix.
For all those who were asking the Bruins to be seller, asked for reconstruction even when they were having one of the best NHL season record, now reconstruction is there, it has arrived. Let see how patient you guys will be.!!!!

Bruins are starting a process in which it can not confirm the duration. For those hating Sweeney, I don't understand. IMO he might be one of the few GM that can turn this around.

Boston has been one of the best NHL club for 15 years..... good luck to return to WHERE Boston was for 15 years, especially in a short term IMO.

I have asked and will be patient while griping some.

To wit: Sweeney's performance has been terrible. His drafting alone should have had him fired a few years ago. I have zero faith in NEELY or Sweeny.

For example, acquiring at least two, maybe three, ex-Sabres for our "rebuild" has turned out as badly as one would think: Casey M. is a floater almost without peer; Joker is slow and weak; and Zad provides toughness of a sort, but also lots of bad hockey.

How is Sweeney the right guy? He has blown key multiple drafts in 2015, 2016 and 2017. The 2015 and 2017 drafts are particularly egregious, but between those 3 drafts
he had SIX 1st Round picks and he has exactly McAvoy left from that. Five of the six were no lower than 19th.

He took Vaak in 2017 with Robert Thomas taken immediately after. His FA signings
have in totality been better than his 1st round drafting, but that's a very low bar.

He better hit on the pick this year AND Letourneau better start developing from the start next year. If not, he needs to go.

What has Sweeney ever done to instill confidence he is one of the few GMs who can turn this around?
