If Islanders lose tonight in Pittsburgh and Bruins beat them tomorrow I would disagree.

Don't bet on the Pens winning tonight, played last night and are missing 4 D-men and Malkin among others.

I don't believe physical fatigue is his issue one bit. I'm tired of being a Rask apologist only to see him fade down the stretch year after year. He has been mentally fragile since the game 6 collapse against the Hawks IMO, and if I were his goalie coach I would suggest he visit a sports psychologist.

He deserves as much blame as the rest of the team for how they play at the end of the season.

Aren't these automatically on the payroll of a professional team?

Sweeney has been at the top of this pile of blame for me since the roster took the ice to start the season. Everyone knew the holes from two years before but chose to ignore. Then didn't address them in the first year of his collapse, then again throughout this year.

What did people expect with those holes for years in the lineup? And before anyone else chimes in about who was available I gave it earlier: Landeskog and Shattenkirk. We know the prices and the availability.

Sweeney simply preferred this approach looking at 2018-2019.

he better hope an unusually high percentage of his picks pan out. the core of this team is getting old and anyone younger than Marchand and older than Pasta kinda sucks. so if the youth movement doesn't pan out...yikes.

Fluto went after Rask in a big way in Friday's paper and I suspect somebody in management suggested that would be a good column. Mike Lynch was harsh on Tuukka as well.

Hindsight is always 20/20 but I wish the Bruins had made a play for Condon was he was bouncing around.

I wouldn't be horrified if Khudobin starts in Brooklyn tomorrow night.

This is Red Sox smear campaign-esque.

I'm still so angry, but yet I will sit in front of the TV Saturday, watch the Bruins roll out the exact same garbage bottom 6 players and see them continue to choke away the season.

Good on management, great move.

Seems like a small move, but man what a difference that would have made, even if it meant giving Pittsburgh a little bit more to keep them from dealing him to Ottawa.

Oh and it would of hurt the Senators chances as well.

Hindsight is 20/20 but I have no problem saying passing on Condon was a mistake considering I felt they should of ended the Khudobin experiment back in Oct/Nov when Condon was available.

Proactivity has never been Sweeney's strong-suit. It's little moves like this that separate good/great GMs from bad/average ones.

clearly another collapse falls squarely on the shoulders of Joe Sacco:sarcasm:

In all seriousness, I guess one could point at Sweeney for not strengthening this lineup nearly enough to add solid depth rather than the mediocre depth they have now but I won`t pin all the blame with him as I just don`t see big deals being made and I am a believer that these days, the summer appears to be the time to make those deals where GM`s seem to be a bit more open to them.

I think much of this, ironically comes down to a complete lack of consistently strong drafting under Chia which, had there actually been solid drafting, as players are moved out, kids promoted and ready to go but this organization hasn`t really had that enough.

I am on the record as a fan who firmly believes in what Sweeney and his team has done as far as drafting goes, problem is, that takes time.

The other big fail is on Sweeney as well, haven`t liked his identification of pro talent that he`s brought in

I watched the body language of that team last night and despised what I saw, looked all too familiar. Many here (myself included) often used the Leafs yearly collapses down the stretch as my verbal punching bag yet, here we are, staring a 3rd year in a row where this team has looked eerily like the many Leaf teams I used to mock.

Not good

I'd give him a pass if he didn't have two summers following playoff DNQ's to fix the holes and chose to roll the dice.

Well, the dice are coming up snakeyes here and he needs at least 3's, nevermind some 6's.

Make the argument Condon should have been the guy in July (not one person on this board mentioned him) but Khudobin played TWO games at the point Condon was acquired by the Sens. Would have loved to have seen this place had the Bruins dealt a 5th for a backup goalie for a couple weeks then lost him on waivers in a week. No way they were waving Khudobin after two games.

You'd probably be surprised how exhausting it is playing goal unless your team is spending significant time in the opposing teams end.

If hes too tired after not playing any playoff hockey for years. Trade him. I don't see other goalies who play into June complain. What a joke

Not me . I have to work anyway . I am not particularly enthusiastic about watching the remaining games . I will keep tabs on them and hope the Pens win tonight and the Bruins win tomorrow but I am on a hiatus .

I don't know, that's the life of a number one goalie. You need to answer the bell when your team needs you. I certainly don't pin it all on him, but I'm not going to let him off the hook either.

I'm sure Bergeron, Marchand, Chara and others are tired and beat up.

I'm watching Miller steal games out here in Vancouver night in and night out and the fans are killing the Canucks in the media for it.

They want to know what they have in Markstrom and other prospects but Miller keeps being an amazing starter and stealing games.

We need Rask to steal some games. 5 actually.

If the Bruins had beat Toronto I'd guess Khudobin would have got the start against Ottawa. It's the same thing as last year and the year before that, they just couldn't get a win or any breathing room to give him a rest and it just compounded all season long.

They had a 3 day break.
Then back to back that Rask played both.
Then a day off, then the Tampa game.
If that is too much playing time for Rask, I don't know what to say.

The 3 day break before the Toronto game is pretty much inconsequential.

It's still 3 games in less than 96 hours.

All I know is the walls have been put back up, I refuse to allow this team to break my heart again. They'll either do it or they won't. They're not convincing me that this isn't going to be a replay of the last 2 years so far. I don't expect them to win it. I don't expect them to get out of the first round. But damn, there is no reason on this earth why they should not be IN the freaking dance. None.

Marchand - Bergeron - Pastrnak
XXX - Krejci - Backes(Eriksson)

Krug - XXX
Chara - Carlo(Seidenberg)

Sadly, for the third year in a row these are the two reasons they aren't in the dance.

While they did win his last start, he still had a lot of iffy moments, looking a lot like the Dobby I saw get embarrassed in Hartford by the worst team in the AHL
