Holy smokes I do not have the energy for this. At least three wine bottles deep at this point.

We have the best line in hockey. The most hated line in hockey. And two empty net kings in Mikko and Esa.

Seattle has some Finns in castaway Tolvanen, castaway Kakko and premier prospect Nyman.

Rantanen leading the way with 81p.
Seattle has McCann at 52p.

More Climate Pledge Arena for your pleasure.

They didn't get the same leg up that Vegas did.
No team ever will again.

In some ways, the new expansion arrangement makes building a franchise almost harder than the days when teams got nothing. It used to be you got a bunch of AHL and fourth line scraps, then were so bad you picked top five for the first few drafts of your existence, and hopefully, emerge five years down the line with some top end talent ready to carry the franchise forward.

Under this new system, you draft a team of veteran third line forwards and second pair defensemen and end up building a team that isn't very good but is also not bad enough to get you top five draft picks. And those expansion draft guys end up being all on second and third contracts, so you also enter the league with very little cap space.

Nobody is forcing them to pick those players exclusively, they could still build a bottom out team but it's not a good way to establish a new market

Seattle's biggest issue is that they did actually get two top picks, and neither are really panning out.

Vegas got screwed by the lottery format, they only got to pick 6th in their first draft. Seattle's already had a 2nd and 4th overall pick.

Vegas was probably headed toward mediocrity until the Eichel trade. Baffling how badly Buffalo f***ed that one up.
