Game 73 : Oilers @ Kraken

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Daccord starting. Why. Just. Why.

Against Pickard.

Oilers supposedly fully healthy.
I don't have a logical answer here.

Maybe Bylsma thinks that running Daccord to the ground and winning 2-3 more games will keep his job secure? I wish they would call up Kokko and split the remaining games between the 3 of them evenly. Or even start calling up more kids and see what they can do.

The ship seems pretty rudderless to be honest.

I've read that both McDavid and Draisaitl are still out and that Draisaitl will be the first one back around next week.

Well, you gotta wear him out before his extension kicks in....:sarcasm:

I guess the team's going for that 9th OVR pick...

Anyways, let's see how the guys will do at home against the Oilers without their top players.

I would very much doubt they end up that high. I know stranger things have happened but off the remaining 10 games left on our schedule, only the Sharks and Utah are not already in the playoffs or fighting for a spot. Utah is 8 points from the WC2 spot and are unlikely to make it but they still have 9 more points than us with fewer games played. Also, our team has already shown that they can lose to San Jose.

I admittedly didn’t do even my usual level of half-assed scrutiny : I was looking at renowned hockey site ESPN.COM whose preview article for the game said “no reported injuries” for the Oilers to which I thought “huh, that doesn’t sound right but whatever” and posted it here anyway.

So much going on tonight. Miami quarters, March Madness Round of 16, super fun analysis of tariffs strategy. Sheesh. :walrus:

Philly won tonight, riding the high of their first day of Torts-less-ness. I can picture them and the Kraken leapfrogging each other back and forth down this last stretch. Perhaps Nashville could find it in their hearts to keep winning as well.

Also, shouldn't we be giving Joey a break?

Does it seems like our skaters have no sense for awareness? They can't seem to see any pressure and know when to get rid of the puck. Not without icing it anyway. They play like its just a late night skate at the Rockefeller center.

According to a graphic on my feed, we are 2-12 against the Oilers and haven't beaten them since January of 2023. Kind of surprising.

The Kraken swing the puck backwards more often than up the ice.
I have never really played hockey, but I would be interested in knowing if thiis type of stuff, is more a basic no-no from a coaching perspective or not? Some of the shit we do is just mental stuff like those no look back passes, holding on to the puck too long, etc.

There, just another f***ing thing. Why is Dunn complaining in the middle of a play when we dont have control of the puck? Like why? Are our players just stupid? Is this a preperation/coaching thing?

Dunn is checked out. No reason to stop on the play there even if Edm did touch the puck with a high stick.

The puck movement is clearly the coaches telling them to cycle back if they don't have an out up the ice. But a lot of it is the players not being in sync because of... coaching imo.

The good news is its scoreless. The bad news is its scoreless. Not much to get excited about one way or the other that period.

The Oilers are a mess of juggled lines. The Kraken are a mess of consistent lines. Every once in a while something great happens amidst the drop passes, dump ins to nowhere, or unpressured turnovers.
