GDT: Game #73: Battle of Alberta - Flames @ Oilers - 8 PM

You have to have an organization willing to give prospects a chance. That is absolutely not a core belief of this organization.

Yup. 100%. And even though that same thought process might literally cost them a spot in the playoffs if a Holloway-Broberg-led Blues get in and the Oilers are left out.

Crazy that we feel like underdogs right now. Which is nuts considering how far we went last year
This team just doesn't carry the 'favorite' label well. It's like they need the clouds of negativity every season. We just haven't seen it this late in the year.

I wonder if its the management, coaching or leadership core that have such an issue with it and to what degree

Imagine having a goalie like Wolf…must be nice to be able to draft..
Draft, trade for a goalie, sign a league average goalie, just a decent goalie of any kind would suffice.

The Oilers are likely the worst organization in the league if they didn't get found money with McDavid and Draisaitl.

It would help if our coach had even the tiniest, slightest bit of intensity. The team plays like him.

No issue in intensity at all last season with Knob as coach. Team was focused and usually were the hardest working team. Something changed this year.

They have a philosophy, never be good enough to win it all, they went overboard this time.

Better to collapse and have an actual fan response so Katz will be forced to sell the team.

I’ve said this before but this is my least favourite collection of Oilers in a long time. The 2018-2021 team had some tough customers, and even when we sucked, we were in some pretty intense and famous BOA. There was a stretch of 3 years when every BOA had multiple fights. The 2022-2024 Oilers were a top 3 team in every analytical category except goaltending , including the leagues best offense, PP, and a top 3 forecheck.
This team is so….blegh. The superstars, Hyman, and a whole bunch of retirement contracts. All that compounded by a coach with the intensity of a kindergarten teacher. So uninspiring to watch.

As bad as goaltending has been. Adam Henrique is STILL not a NHL caliber player. A couple lucky goals the past 10 games doesn't change that. He's an all time bad Oiler that we paid a 1st for and is one of several players who costed us Holloway and Broberg. I said this before with Jack Campbell: if a GM is not willing to bully Henrique into retirement then they shouldn't be the GM of the Oilers.
