Post-Game Talk: Game 72: New York Rangers @ Los Angeles Kings, 10:30 ET, MSG

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

He took a penalty. They scored.

We took 3 penalties on Byfield.

7 shots in a period while trailing by 1.

Sounds like missing the last 2 periods was a fine choice. Although, you watched the worst period.
How was Kreider? I see he got 19:24 TOI, few shifts more than usual, was he noticeable?

I watched the last 2 periods.

The difference in the way the Kings play defense and the rangers play defense was very noticable. The kings use their bodies, constantly leaning on the puck carrier. The rangers stick check.

You watch the game as a rangers fan with no expectations of them being able to hold a lead or come from behind in a game. It's kinda depressing.

Pedestrian af. His gaffe while they were defending in their own zone directly led to the Kings' second goal. He's old and slow now outside of the occasional burst. He has no business being in the lineup, occupying a spot, and forcing musical-chair platooning with Parssinen, Berard and others. But Lavi is a moron enabler of the culture.

Abysmal. He ought to be embarrassed. For a guy who is so good at tipping the puck in front of the net, it makes no sense that he's generationally abhorrent at chipping the puck out of the D-zone from within 5ft of the blue line.

He also glides around the rink like Kovalev at his worst. This team needs more guys that stop and start when play changes direction. Go in straight lines. Stop coasting around and adding distance to your path towards the puck.

The other thing about not being to chip out the puck is I've never seen so much cheating for offense as this team. They're desperate to make a transition play over a safe play. We see all the stick poking nonsense, after Igor or Quick makes a save, to chip the puck to a teammate 3 feet away IN THE SLOT hoping to start a transition when they should just flip it in the air and get it out. Or it's the Panarin-perfected pull up and pass rather than skating it out. It's also why Kreider chips it a few feet rather than go long because he's trying to get it just past a foreckecking opponent and hoping a teammate skates into it heading up ice.

This is nothing new and has been one their biggest issues defensively for a while now. How often have we seen them try to make the "pretty" play rather than the smart, safer play resulting in extended D zone time and eventually a goal against. Kreider is by far the biggest culprit of this followed by Panarin and Laf. I think this also speaks volumes about their work ethic. They know they aren't going to generate any chances via dump and chase because most of them don't want to get into the dirty areas and cycle. This forces them to cheat for rush chances because its really all they have, other than the occasional Kreider deflection.

We all remember the kid line shift in the playoffs against Tampa Bay in 2022. that is still brought up on a semi regular basis. While it was a great shift and great goal by that line, its pretty sad its still talked about today almost 3 years later. Shows just how futile this team has been at generating extended zone time through hard work.

What a piss poor showing for a team that should be desperate for points. I don't think I've ever seen a team be this boring to watch and this bad defensively at the same time. If you are going to be boring and not generate chances, then at least lock it down on defense and limit the chances against. At this point, this team does literally nothing well.

93 says they have been playing good hockey hahahahahahaha
Guys is the least likeable Ranger in quite a while

I am glad Vally is on pointing out the disgrace of a comment 93 just made.
He thinks they have been playing well the last few weeks.
While I agree Mikas comment was stupid it is funny that you choose to single him out when Trocheck said they played a good game.

Now what...same shitty defensive system, worse defensemen, no offense 5 on 5 or pp, no pressure anywhere, tons of fly bys.....team is a boat without a rudder.
We all lament the Igor contract but he might be the most disappointed with signing here longterm of anyone.

There was a video posted yesterday somewhere of like an 80's russian PP unit doing fancy pants passes, that's what we are. Desperate to make a pretty play, its very contagious too. Meanwhile you have Florida and Dallas trying to knock your goalie's teeth through the net. It is a lot of Panarin's fault, he can pull it off (most of the time) but no one else on the team is like that.

They're so bad at this ... like you are watching and you know "this isn't going to work" but they do it anyway, over & over

It must be amazing to see all these other teams playing exceptional hockey if that's what Zibs defines as good. LOL. What a f***ing joke. This is the same guy that said after the Calgary game that he doesn't care if they played like that and win. Like being outplayed and winning should be the norm for this team.

bingo this is the second time in what a week or two he pretty much said the same shit. Why bother interviewing him anymore. It is very sad he is part of the core of this franchise. So weak and loser mentality

didn't hear the Trocheck interview so fair enough.
Got disgusted after listening to 93's interview. And its basically the second time he said similar weak shit.
Like after the Calgary game which was honestly one of the worst games I've ever seen. He basically said that its ok if they play like that if they win.
Its just embarrassing.
