GDT: [Game #72] Dallas Stars @ Calgary Flames – 8:00 PM CT (Victory+)

I donno, this is just what this team is. We get gased out and sit back and don't skate. The entire Edmonton series was just that.

Why it happens I have no idea because we will 4 lines, no forward plays more than 19-20 minutes the entire season.. but we look gased and dead all the time.
It's also because this is a long season for a team with two long playoff runs before this season. They know what a grind they're in for. Gotta save the energy.

It's mostly because 90% of the dcore can't do anything with the puck.
They're all slow and lousy passers. All they can do is flip it out/ice it. Half the time they can't even do that properly.
Players are burning all their energy rotating in the defensive zone.
half the d-core should be on a lotto team not a contender.
1 of the other 3 is a rookie, and Lindell has never been good at passing.
They need Heiskanen back in the worst way

It's crazy how hard Harley is carrying this entire season.. Everyone else available is 3rd pairing or AHL level.

I mean if you want a guy to get in shooting lanes and ice the puck. He's your guy, you want a guy to move the puck down the ice to teammates, the guy in the 5th row is probably as effective
Good for 25pts. One of, if not the best, penalty killing defenseman in the league. He's a 2nd pairing defenseman, it's not even a debate.

Lindell can be a fantastic defenseman and also not be great at making a first pass or carrying the puck.

In his own zone when the opponents have the puck, there aren't many guys I'd prefer to have back there than Lindell.

You gotta have guys like him.

But yes, this team badly needs Heiskanen back. No one besides he and Harley have the ability to make a good first pass or simply carry the puck in. Zone entries are a big issue.

45+ minutes a game of Harley/Heiskanen doing that heavy lifting with the puck is a massive difference compared to 25 minutes of just Harley doing it.

Crazy that Niklas Hjalmarsson got so much praise around the league for his defense and you don’t hear a peep about Lindell, who’s the better player. I guess all the cups in Chicago helped with that

Played for a Cup winner, in a "original 6" market, vs playing on a team that the media is vaguely aware exists.

Bischel has looked really bad lately. That 3rd pair is going to be given 10 min a night in the playoffs if this keeps up. Nill really f***ed up not getting a more reliable #6.

Bichsel needs to learn that his choices are 1) the puck immediately leaves his stick or 2) the puck stays on his stick and he makes plays. If you're caught in the middle like he is now you're lost

Had Wyatt worn an A all year? I may have been oblivious only noticing now.

I know they split As among Home and road, but still amazing for the 21 year in a lineup full of options for leadership

I had this same thing a few weeks back. Seems to be for the whole year for road games.
I don't remember how far back I went but most of the year at least he's had it on the road

I have noticed that as well. I hope it is just an early, condensed, sophomore slump. Harley had his ups and downs before becoming a certified stud on D.

What is the deal with us repeatedly not being able to clear the puck these last two games?

Pretty sure he got the A after Miro went down.

Kinda crazy how many guys we have who wear As

Seguin, Hintz, Heiskanen, Lindell, Johnston, I think Duchene has a few times

Harley will probably get one eventually

Kind of interesting (telling?) that Robertson has never worn an A, though

Seguin, Esa, Hintz, and Miro are the 4 regulars who wear A’s. Duchene took Seguin’s once he was injured. Johnston has worn the A when Hintz was out and now Miro.
