By all measures and my own eye test Lysell was our best forward last night besides maybe Pasta. His line was dominant all night. Have no idea how you guys aren’t seeing how good he was.

Well my eye test is different than yours and I can’t stand Corsi numbers. While they can help guide you, they just aren’t something I put too much stock in. From what I saw he has improved in areas of his game that are his weakness which is being positionally sound and working within the teams system. That is really the big reason he couldn’t get the call ups while JAGs did. He did however have a few shifts where he was out of position. So while still a work in progress, he certainly has progressed and that’s what you want to see.

Yeah that's a fair point. I would say though that the rot started to set in defensively as soon as Monty arrived. It took time to really start to fall apart, but the warning signs were there even in their record season and then especially last year. Jim wanted to change things which is fine, but what he was laying down was clearly flawed, at least for this roster.

Has Leach then made that worse? Maybe, at the very least you could say that he and Sacco haven't been able to correct course, although to be fair missing your top two defenders for large chunks was always going to make that difficult. I think it's like a lot of things with the Bruins at present - do you back Leach or any of the other guys to write off an outlier bad season and bounce back with an improved, healthier roster (hopefully), or do you say enough is enough and try something new?

I was watching the game last night but fell asleep with about 7 minutes left in the third period. I can not comment on the sharks go ahead goal being on or off side. All I've seen is the still shot that tells me nothing. I would need to see 10 - 15 seconds on each side of that still shot to have an opinion. Highlights don't show the play in question.

As far as not challenging, it could be several factors. If their video people are not a 100 percent certain it was offside and you challenge and are wrong - you get a 2 minute penalty with about three and half minutes left.

Assuming San Jose doesn't score you have a little over a minute to pull the goalie and try and score. If San Jose scores on the powerplay you are now down 2 goals with whatever time is left. It's about choosing your poison.

Do you trust you pk?
Or do you think you have a better chance to tie the game pulling your goalie with more time on the clock.
Hindsight is 20 20, based on the outcome of the game, it's easy to say the goal should have been challenged.

Otherwise, Lysell looked good for a 21 year old playing his second game in the NHL. He moved well, did not appear to be hesitate and tried to create some plays. He needs to play more and see how his confidence evolves. San Jose was a good game to get him into. They have a lot of young players in and around Lysell's age. That probably helped Lysell feel more comfortable. Give him a few more games and let's see how things unfold.

Oh absolutely. This is not a viable NHL roster. But it's good to see it's not just the guys fighting for jobs that are playing hard. Well except for Lindholm lol
 
From what has happened in the last two or three years I get the feeling Sweeney doesn't see the big long term picture.
I'm just a fan and could be wrong and have been plenty of times

I’m guessing Leach will be the next head coach of the Bruins.

If Edmonton took Swayman, its Skinner coming back and that guy isn't better than Swayman and that's for certain.
 
When teams want to change up and dump the puck in from past center ice, why don't teams shoot the puck over the net and out of play? That way they make the change and don't give possession to other team?

Refs can still make a judgement call and say it was delay of game. Marchand tried that earlier this year.

Maybe? Maybe not? It's a FAFO decision which is probably why we don't see it happen. According to the rulebooks, refs can deem it a penalty, especially if they start to see this become a tactic rather than an accident.

Skinner's awful. I would not take a goalie back and look for one elsewhere in FA. Or sign DiPietro and let Bussi and him fight it out for the second goalie spot. (Notice I did not say backup)
